CALL FOR PAPERS 58 th Annual Conference A Climate for Change The (SPWA) 58 th Annual Conference and Tradeshow is being held from February 28 - March 2, 2017 at the Inn, in, SK. Saskatchewan s Public Works professionals are a diverse, technically skilled team dedicated to providing essential services in support of their communities. They deliver these services every single day to ensure we have quality water when we turn on the tap, or a safe road to drive on, our refuse is managed, sewage is carried away and treated, and our communities are highly livable with well-maintained parks, green space, and sporting facilities. Please assist us to further their educational opportunities by sharing your expertise with our delegates. Our 2017 Annual SPWA Conference and Tradeshow, themed A Climate for Change, offers the conduit for expanding that learning. The event offers networking and education to the PW staff, and those that support them. The conference provides opportunities for Continuing Education sessions (0.3-0.6 CEU), technical talks (1-hour maximum), a facility/equipment tour, plus other interactive options such as the Administrative workshop. You can be a speaker and share your public works know-how with solid best practices, new perspectives, a proven project, or innovative twist within the many disciplines of public works. Administrative presentations could include items such as boosting communication skills/productivity, professional development, regulations, or asset management. Advantages offered to presenters? The SPWA Annual Conference is an excellent vehicle to promote your technological/scientific improvement, or your study findings and experience to a vast target audience. The Conference is attended by the delegates from all disciplines of public works including administration, management, engineering and operational staff. This makes it the most important multi-sector PW gathering in the province. Speakers will benefit from visibility in our Western Canada magazine - The Roadrunner, the Conference Program, our Chapter website, and most importantly, delegates attending the conference. Presenters are granted free admittance/meals to the Conference for the day of their session. Who will be attending? All disciplines of the public works field are invited from the over 800 Saskatchewan communities, RMs, and First Nations, along with government and municipal representatives and decision-makers, municipal engineers, environmental consultants, suppliers, contractors, and consulting firms. Submissions should be sent in an electronic format to the Chapter Administrator at spwa@sasktel.net for evaluation by the SPWA s Board before September 15, 2016. Please provide a detailed summary of your proposal along with a brief bio (3-4 sentences) of your experience. Clearly indicate the title of the presentation and the speaker s full contact information. * Please note that the selected speakers will be attending the event as experts to share their knowledge and experience with participants. We ask that speakers refrain from specifically selling any product or service during their presentation. We reserve the right to reject a presentation that we will consider too commercial in nature.
