Leaders from state, national, and international aerospace and aviation industries, as well as representatives from the state legislature and Governor s Office have gathered for in-depth discussions on the direction and future of aerospace, aviation, and related industries. Overcoming both current and future challenges to grow, this sector will require meaningful partnerships between industry, universities, and government agencies. We anticipate that this symposium will be an ideal forum for such an exchange of ideas. The symposium will feature invited talks and posters describing the interdisciplinary FCAAP-supported research being conducted by our faculty, students, and scientists in partnership with industry and government agencies. In addition, there will be poster presentations by FCAAP students and researchers from each of the participating institutions. Research and technology development projects discussed at the symposium will include Smart/Advanced Materials, Actuator and Sensor Design, Subsonic/Supersonic Flow/Noise Control, and High Performance Computing. Applications of this research and technology can be found in the areas of aeronautics, aviation, aerospace, propulsion, and power. This symposium is the third in a series of annual meetings highlighting FCAAP research. We anticipate that the research results discussed at this symposium will be of significant interest to the academic, scientific, and industrial communities. These funded projects represent the core of FCAAP s mission to advance education and research, and promote industrial and economic grown in Florida and throughout the nation. We thank you all for participating in this symposium.
