NECSTouR Examples: Talent and Competences Development in the tourism industry

Start-DMC Tourism Project Innovating in Tourism creating singular experiences Aims to stimulate the creation and consolidation of DMC's (Destination Management Companies) in Catalonia, preferably oriented to the priority of innovative product development of Catalonia. The ultimate objective is to boost the entrepreneurship on high added value tourism products with a well balanced distribution in our destinations. In 3 editions, 35 companies have been part of StartDMC Tourism. All of them successfully. They have been recruited according to a strict selection process criteria of economic viability, social and environmental project sustainability and after a promoters professional skills evaluation. The selected projects are receiving an intensive training and supporting plan, with networking sessions, best practices study, 10 mentoring sessions and joining all the promotion platforms of the Catalan Tourist Board.

INVAT.TUR (Valencian Institute of Tourism Technologies) - The branch of Agència Valenciana del Turisme specialised in the generation and transfer of tourist knowledge, through the development of R+D+i projects and adaptation to new trends in all aspects of the tourist market. - It is led by a multidisciplinary team, experts in the fields of marketing, planning, new technologies, innovation, internet and social media, project development and research in the tourist sector. Transfer and Communicate Results Main areas of work Market Intelligence Planning and Strategy TOURIST SMEs AND ASSOCIATIONS Entrepreneurship Technological Control Support R+D+i SUPPLIERS AND TOURISM RELATED COMPANIES INVAT.TUR UNIVERSITIES AND TECHNOLOGICAL CENTRES PUBLIC ADMINISTATIONS Invat.tur is conceived as an encounter and collaboration platform for all the tourism agents, a meeting point of tourism in the Region of Valencia. Public and private stakeholders play an important role in the development of the activity and projects of the centre role. Invat.tur Technical Advisory Council was established as an advisory body and open character, whose primary mission lies in advising the centre in the direction of its activity, in order to ensure that it is confined to the demands of the sector and the evolution of tourism. This council consists of a representation of renowned experts professionals who work in major companies, associations, organizations and institutions in the tourism sector in the region of Valencia.

Future Managers to help to develop cultural and heritage tourism Purpose: The unique collaboration project between the University College of Business in Prague and the National Heritage Institute. The students were asked to prepare a detailed marketing plan for more than seventeen carefully selected sites in order to exploit their potential. The students intention was to restore the social importance of the sites and show how to revitalise them in a meaningful manner with respect to their original function. Results: The university students worked for the first time on the projects, which were directly connected with the industry. They had the opportunity to test the acquired theoretical knowledge and their managerial skills in practice.
