The grant is a monetary stipend to encourage students to pursue careers in the field of teaching. The recruitment grant selection committee shall consist of the Professional Affairs committee and the Epsilon Nu Chapter president. The recruitment grant selection committee shall select the recipient from the applications submitted by the April deadline. Award winners must attend an accredited college or university. The award winner shall progress in a course of study leading to a Bachelor s degree or teacher certification. Applications are accepted from high school graduates within the ESC Region 11 area. The grant shall be made to the award winner upon proof of enrollment in college or university or to the institution so that enrollment may be accomplished.. Each grant shall be made for no more than two successive years. All funds are to cover direct school expenses only. In case of illness or other contingency, which shall prevent the enrollment of the selected applicant at the next regular semester in college, the money for the award shall be maintained in escrow for said applicant for a period of one year. If at the end of one year, applicant has not used funds, the grant will revert to the general recruitment grant fund. When conditions herein stated are fulfilled by the applicant, the award shall be made as stipulated. Guidelines are subject to review and revision when necessary by appointed committee of the Epsilon Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and accepted by the chapter. The Professional Affairs Committee will be responsible for administering the Opal Pettit Recruitment Grant.
