A SMP meeting was held on 06 October at San Onofre Beach Resort. The Member at Large called the meeting to order at 1330. List of those in attendance is provided on the sign in sheet (attachment 1). 2. Danielle West - SMP Coordinator Last month s minutes can be found at www.mccscp.com under the recreation / SMP tab. 3. SgtMaj Meza SgtMaj MCIWest-MCB CamPen 19 October 11 Area Football Field, Secretary of the Navy visit. Mainside Rec Center will be open and started as discussed by SgtMj. This information for those in 11 Area and 13 Area. SAFETY ISSUES Galaxy 7s are still burning up and E-Cigarettes are exploding. Be aware! Motorcycle safety courses will be open November, December and January. November and January are highly recommended as December classes will be very full. 4. Cost depends on paygrade of Marine/Sailor 7. Jimi Shive Hardcorps Race Series - Tun Tavern event (go to website to register, $35). Register to celebrate the Marine Corps Birthday by signing up to run 10 miles or a 10K. This is a virtual run so completion is on the honor system. As a grand finale for our Red Ribbon Week, we are having the Marines/Sailors come and motivate the students to exercise during our "Red Ribbon Fun Run/Spirit Day", which will take place during lunch recesses on the track field for all students from kindergarten - 5th grades. The Marines/Sailors will be great examples of good character, good values, good choices, and healthy living for our students. First shift of 12, please arrive 10:45am and lead warm up exercises/run laps with children till 12pm. Next shift of 12, please arrive at 11:50am and exercise with the kids until 1:15p. They will get a letter of appreciation for helping to motivate our students to exercise. This is a High School Boys Varsity program that will be competing in the Pacific Lacrosse League (PLL) for the upcoming 2016 season. The season runs February through May, with practices on weeknights from 7-9PM in the Vista High School Stadium in Vista, CA. Games will be scheduled on weekend (usually Saturdays). Practices will be scheduled to begin in December. There is an existing core group of players with lacrosse experience, and a large number of non-lacrosse athletes ready to give the sport a try. Previous coaching experience is desired, but not required. In our program, the Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers meet with their Little Brothers and Little Sisters for one hour one day a week (times and dates are the same every week) at the child s school site. During that hour the Big and Little matches do activities such as play board games, do arts and crafts projects, or just run around outside, playing ball, throwing Frisbees, jumping rope, and other fun activities! We offer comfortably furnished rooms with bathrooms, fully equipped kitchen, living, dining, laundry and play rooms. The home provides free temporary lodging so military families can be close to their loved ones during a medical crisis. Fisher House is available to families of active duty, retired and veterans from all services including the National Guard and Coast Guard. Our Fisher House has a full-time staff but depends on volunteers and voluntary support to enhance daily operations and program expansion. Please consider volunteering your time to help our courageous service members and their families.

The animals have to be cared for whether volunteers show up or not, and many of the current volunteers are seniors. They often find it difficult to stay to a regular schedule. Participants who volunteer must register in advance with SMP HQ in order to receive a letter of appreciation. Volunteers must provide their own transportation except for PE fitness Challenge. A signed command permission slip is required for all SMP activities. All activities depart from Semper Fit Headquarters Bldg 1253. Camp Pendleton Stables, bldg. 1516. Participants will help clean and groom horses, clean stalls, and help with general maintenance at the stables. Uniform of the day is civilian attire. Closed toed shoes are required. A maximum of 10 participants are needed for this opportunity. Participants must sign up prior to the event. 10/21 P.E. Fitness Challenge. Volunteers will host an all-day fitness challenge at a local Middle school. All volunteers must meet at Semper Fit Headquarters at 0630. Please eat breakfast before you arrive. Dress attire is the Marine Corps Running Suit with green PT shorts and plain skivvy shirt underneath. Lunch will be provided. 40 volunteers needed. 10/22 Pumpkin Plummet Volunteers will 10 volunteers needed at 1500 at 13 Area Pool. Volunteers may wear civilian attire and will help with parking, games, and crowd control. An LOA will be issued to volunteers, dinner will also be provided. MCCS Activities 10/1 - Tour De Camp Pendleton $10 for Active Duty includes race bib, t-shirt, Gatorade, snacks, and race access. Cycling event riding from the Northernmost point on Camp Pendleton through Basilone and down to Las Pulgas covering varying routes of 25, 50, 75 and 100 miles.
