We are all searching for the new wizards of organizing corporate volunteer service projects. Inside this issue, you can see how companies making use of their profession to serve the community; how a newly set up corporate volunteer team steps out for their first time serving and how the "Service Bridge" inspires you for your planning of corporate service projects in 2004. Of course, you cannot miss the "News Update" for the fabulous snapshots at the Volunteer Award Presentation 2003. To keep developing and empowering our corporate volunteer teams to serve and to meet the changing needs of the community, we plan to incorporate the awarded service projects from the "Campaign Evergreen 2003 - Innovative Service Project Competition" in the coming issues of Newsletter on Corporate Volunteering in 2004. We believe that developing different kinds of skills and service opportunities requires the most creative ideas and visions. And, it is how we put strong partnership between the corporations and the service organizations together. It is also how we continue to deliver on our promise to enhance all walks of life to serve the community in their own way. Remember, it's never too late to join, to plan and to serve. So log on and prepare to be rewarded. You will always get your volunteer experience happily, meaningfully and memorably. pìäjåçããáííéé=çå=mêçãçíáçå=çñ=`çêéçê~íé=sçäìåíééêáåö===!"#$%&'( ^ÇÇêÉëë oççã=oomri=oolci=pçìíüçêå=`éåíêéi=npm=eéååéëëó=oç~çi=t~å=`ü~ái=eçåö=hçåö!"#$% NPM =! Sony Hong Kong serves the seniors with Sony digital cameras Sony headquarters initiated a group global CS21 campaign to raise customer satisfaction. To supporting the campaign, Sony Corporation of Hong Kong Limited (Sony Hong Kong) devotes to provide quality products and services for customers. In addition, the company participates in various kinds of community services to promote a harmonious relationship with the society. On November 7, 2003, Sony Hong Kong coordinated with SKH Holy Carpenter Church District Elderly Community Centre to organize a Photo-taking event for the Elderly. All participating seniors were each given four passport-size photos and a CD- ROM with their photos. As this is the first time for the seniors to have a digital photo, the event received an overwhelming response and the quota had been filled up quickly. Started from 10am to 5:30pm, a total of 71 seniors from SKH Holy Carpenter Church District Elderly Community Centre showed up for the event The seniors were happy with the outstanding quality of the pictures, and impressed with the passion of Sony volunteers. Mrs Choi, 79, showed the photos and said, I am very pleased that the photos look very nice. Thank to Sony Hong Kong for bringing me this sweet memory. I will keep them well and share them with my grandchildren.!"#!"#$%&'()*+,- A group photo of Sony volunteers and seniors to mark the success of the event. On behalf of the Community Centre, I would like to thank Sony Hong Kong for the support rendered to our centre. It was a great success and the seniors were contented with the photos. In future, I look forward to working with Sony Hong Kong in serving the seniors of our community, said Li Ip Ping, Registered Social Worker of SKH Holy Carpenter Church District Elderly Community Centre. The Sony volunteers were pleased to find out how meaningful it is to bring joy to the elderly with Sony products. Sony Hong Kong will continue to look into other community activities to promote CS21 campaign. The success of the event was also attributed to the generous sponsorship of Recording Media and Energy Sales and Marketing Group for their CD-ROMs, and Epson Hong Kong Limited for the provision of colour printers, ink and photo papers. Mrs Tung made the remarks after officiating at the Volunteer Award Presentation Ceremony 2003 at Government House. A central award system under the auspices of the Steering Committee has been introduced in 1998 to give recognition to individual and volunteer organisations and sustain their devotion in volunteer service by every year end. From 1998 to now, there are more than 440,000 registered volunteers and over 1,100 registered organisations/schools/professional groups/public and private corporations committed in volunteer service. In 2002, the volunteers have served the community for about 9.37 million hours. More than 32,000 Volunteer Certificates have been awarded to committed volunteers, including 20 volunteers who have served the community for over 40 years. These 20 committed volunteers together with the individual volunteers and volunteer organisations (both public and private organisations) awarded of the Highest Service Hours Award were commended at the volunteer award presentation ceremony. The Steering Committee also presented the awards to the winners of various competitions organized under the Campaign Evergreen 2003 which was launched in last August to capitalise on the community spirit displayed during SARS crisis and rebuild the community after SARS. 4!
