For as long as I have been a Member of Civitan the one thing I have seen over and over is how much passion Civitan Members all over the World have. Civitan Members have a Passion for great service projects, helping people with Developmental Disabilities, making our World and Communities a better place to live, Special Olympics, recruiting new members, charting new Civitan Clubs, sharing fellowship with our members, fund raising, expanding our existing Clubs, setting record contributions to our CIRC, mentoring new leaders, and the list goes on. Civitan Passion Speaks with Action! I love the fact that all Civitan Clubs are action Clubs. As Civitans we are involved in our communities; we are hands on; we are getting things done; we are making a difference!! In the first ¼ of my year as Governor I have seen and experienced so much Civitan Passion. In October Linda and I were blessed to be in Tucson to install the new Officers in the Roadrunner Club. We installed a new Member and had a night full of fellowship. Thank you so much for the invite. Also while in Tucson we attended a Phil Schlesinger Club meeting. While I was still in my room sleeping, the Phil Schlesinger Club was out doing a park cleanup project before the meeting. After a great meeting many of the members were off to practice for Special Olympics Bowling. Now that s what I call Civitan Passion in Action! What s your Civitan Passion? Will you put that Passion in action? Will you share that Passion with someone else? I have challenged your District Board Members to all share THEIR favorite Civitan story with someone and ask that person to join Civitan. Now I ask each and every member of the Heart of the West District to share YOUR favorite Civitan story with someone today! Thank you all so much for everything you do in the name of Civitan!!!!!! Gerald Kimber Governor HOTW 2012-13

1 st Quarter 2012-2013 Page 6 NEWS FROM THE TUCSON AREA Cresta Loma Golf & Civitan Club You all know we play golf. Since October 1st we have played par 3 golf, Championship Golf, Private Golf, FREE Golf, and even Backyard Golf. You may NOT Know that we have added NINE New Members! You may not know that we Donate Funds to: The Phil Schlesinger Civitan Club, Junior Civitans via Sno-Do and Dance-a-thon, Adopted a Christmas Person, First Book Program, and donate Annually to the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC) to help find the cause and cure for mental and developmental disabilities. As PS member Ken Kundert would say we help the "Intellectually Disabled". We continue to find homes for Medical Supplies like walkers and wheelchairs so it is not JUST about Golf as many may think. We Golfers and Roadrunner Civitans will work together to pull off our 23rd Annual Championship Charity Golf Tournament on Saturday April 27th, 2013. You can play, sponsor a hole, make a donation, or buy a Raffle Ticket for a Sean Miller and U of A signed basketball ($5) as all the money goes to CIRC! We just completed a Super Bowl Sunday Social and of course 9 of us played golf at the CLCC before kick-off. We have 4 or 5 socials per year and compete in 4 to 6 Golf Tournaments that help YOUTH and the handicapped. We plan to send a representative to Denver to Play in the Annual Civitan International Golf Tournament in an attempt to help raise over $300,000 to benefit the "Intellectually Disabled" and take a giant step to find the cure and prevention. We raise money playing golf and we give it away playing golf! We are a "good gang of golfers" trying to make our mark - please help us help the less fortunate, Carl H.
