Official Newsletter of Flotilla 22, Ithaca, NY: News & Views February 2017 From the Helm, Kim Walsh, FC to Flotilla 22 Ithaca: I m still getting used to my new role as Flotilla Commander and my increased email volume! Bo & I have tried not to waste any time in getting started on our traditional Hard water season activities of planning and training. Flotilla 22 s record in completing AUXOP classes and earning certifications has been impressive over the 2 years I ve been a member. Additionally, Gene did an excellent job in facilitating Flotilla Goals and tracking our accomplishments. Building on that foundation, the 2017 Objectives we approved at last week s meeting are aspirational and will need everyone s participation. My challenge to all our members is to read through the 8 Objectives and decide which ones you can and will support directly or indirectly. Will you set a goal to earn your Instructor or Boat Crew certification? Will you teach sections of the ABS classes or provide boating safety and invasive species information at special events? Will you participate and possibly help organize Fellowship events? Like the Flotilla s Objectives be ambitious! I d much rather hear that you re aiming to contribute to accomplishing 5 Objectives and earning a certification plus completing an AUXOP course and have you fall a little short than have you succeed in contributing to 2 Objectives. Send me your pledges March 5th and be specific as to which Objectives, certifications, courses, etc., you plan to complete. I ll give a summary (how many people) for each Objective at the next Flotilla meeting.
