28/06/18 Inspirations 2018 11-19 Business Advisor Annual Celebration of STEM in Education Event Inspirations brings together STEM in a fun and interactive environment, linking classroom learning with real career opportunities. Last year over 1,000 students from across 40 schools from across Yorkshire and Humber took part in the event. At the core of this event is a real celebration of achievement we put young people at the heart of this event, displaying their ideas, projects and prototypes created within education or outside to our expert judges recruited from business, HE and other partners. Last year 100 projects were showcased and over 50 awards were made to students at the event by our judges and sponsored by businesses and partner organisations. Last year we were delighted to team up with York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership, local employers and organisations including Drax Power, Doosan, FERA, Dale Power, Nestlé, RAF, Army, Navy, Sirius Minerals, Network Rail, GHD Ltd, Portakabin, and the Rotary Club as well as our education partners Askham Bryan College, York College, University of York, York St John and Coventry University and many more. This year we aim to make the event BIGGER and BETTER! Employers are invited to JOIN US and support in a variety of ways including acting as an Advisor/Judge, sponsoring an award, providing a hands-on activity that promotes STEM or a careers stand. Coming up We have activity coming up across this academic year that will engage over 30,000 (11-19 years old) young people from across York, North Yorkshire and East Riding.
