NAMI: Robert E. Mitchell Center (REMC) for Repatriated Prisoner of War (RPOW) Studies Purpose: The Mitchell Center provides annual clinical evaluations and conducts follow up studies of RPOWs from Vietnam, DESERT STORM and OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM, in order to evaluate the mental and physical effects of captivity and delineate the predictors of repatriate resilience. 1. Performs more than 200 RPOW evaluations each year for members of all services as well as the State Department. 2. Functions as the only longitudinal study of RPOWs. 3. SECNAV directed the creation of the Mitchell Foundation, a private 501C3 corporation, to help support the Center s research efforts.
FY18-FY19 Strategic Initiatives Achieved national benchmark recognition for hyperbaric medicine and aeromedical examinations. Undersea Hyperbaric Medicine Society Accreditation & National Association of Occupational Health Professionals Recognition received Nov-Dec 2017. Achieved internally set benchmark of 95% or greater for aviation survival and operational medicine annual graduates. Currently @ 97.3% for FY18. Standardized Tactical Combat Casualty Care across BSO-18 FY17-FY18. Role 2 Light Maneuver (R2LM) Training NEMTI In progress: Respond to the needs of the Fleet with an expeditious, efficient and effective End to End (E2E) process. NMETLC establishing Lean Six Sigma Black Belt project.
