GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES ASSESSMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY QUALIFICATIONS UNIVERSITY ENTRY OR EMPLOYMENT IMPORTANT: Please read these explanatory notes arefully before ompleting the Assessment of Psyhology Qualifiations appliation form. The information on the Assessment of Psyhology Qualifiations appliation form is olleted by the Australian Psyhologial Soiety (APS) for the purpose of assessing the omparability of aademi qualifiations in psyhology, and may be ollated and used for internal review to analyse trends and statistis. All personal information will be handled onfidentially. Introdution An APS assessed Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations is an opinion on the omparability of your aademi studies in terms of Australian qualifiations. The APS may only assess ompleted tertiary qualifiations and does not assess supervised work experiene. In forming an opinion, the APS gives areful onsideration to a range of fators, inluding the eduation system of the ountry onerned, the awarding institution, and the level, struture, length and ontent of the programme of study undertaken. An APS Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations reflets the views of the APS based on material you have presented with your appliation, and following in-depth srutiny using the best available resoure information. The APS aepts no responsibility for the judgements made by individuals or third parties whih may disagree with its assessment. The APS reserves the right to ontat eduational and governmental institutions and agenies for additional information and/or verifiation of the authentiity of the material presented. A transript lists the subjets studied by the individual student eah year, the hours or redits, and the marks or grades obtained. Transripts an be obtained from your university. If your transripts are not in English, you must also provide a ertified opy of an offiial English translation. If you have reeived any exemptions or redit transfers for psyhology oursework ompleted at another university or higher eduation provider whih is not refleted in detail on your aademi reord, then you must provide the APS with a ertified opy of an aademi transript from the institution where those oursework subjets or units were ompleted. 11 OF 14

Guidelines and proedures ontinued... 3. single subjet major in psyhology: if your undergraduate studies in psyhology were ompleted as a single subjet major (that is, units whih were not undertaken as part of a degree) please provide ertified opies of the transripts for these subjets as outlined in point 2 above, AND a ertified opy of your qualifiation ertifiate of the degree you ompleted prior to ommening your psyhology subjets. 4. thesis details: if you have ompleted a thesis/dissertation/major researh projet as part of your degree, you must also provide ertified opies* of evidene of your thesis as follows: title page; abstrat; table of ontents; and a list of your supervisors and examiners, indiating their profession and institutional affiliation. If your thesis is not in English, you must also provide this information in a ertified English translation. Please do not send the entire thesis unless requested. * eah page of the information provided from your thesis/dissertation/ researh projet must be ertified as a true opy. 5. evidene of membership of a professional psyhology assoiation, if appliable. 6. evidene of registration/liensure as a psyhologist, if appliable. 7. hange of name doumentation: if your aademi douments are in a different name from the name you use on the Assessment of Psyhology Qualifiations appliation form, you must provide ertified doumentation for eah hange of name (for example, Marriage Certifiate or Change of Name Certifiate et). Passport extrats are not aeptable as evidene of a name hange. If you do not hold doumentation as outlined above, you should obtain the required douments from the relevant institution or authority. If you do not submit supporting doumentation as outlined above, the proessing of your appliation will be delayed. If forged, altered, or falsified douments are submitted to the APS at any time, no assessment will be prepared and the assessment fee will not be refunded. Please note that doumentation submitted to the APS in support of your assessment appliation will not be returned. Assessment files are retained by the APS for a period of ten (10) years only. Any orrespondene reeived after this time period whih relates to an assessment of qualifiations would require the resubmission of all relevant doumentation as outlined above. Translation of douments into English All non-english douments sent to the APS must be aompanied by a ertified English translation. If the douments are translated in a ountry outside Australia, the translator must be approved by the authorities in the ountry where the translation is made. Ask the Australian Embassy, High Commission or Consulate for advie if you are unsure. Translators in Australia should be aredited by the National Areditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI) and an be found in the NAATI Diretory of Translators and Interpreters available at naati.om.au. Keep the original translation for your future use. Send only ertified opies of the English translation. Refer to the following setion for details on how to have your douments ertified. Certifiation It is essential that opies of douments are ertified. This means that you should send opies whih have been formally endorsed as true opies of the originals by a person or ageny reognised by the law of your ountry and reognised by the Australian Embassy, High Commission or Immigration Offie for this purpose. In Australia, persons who may ertify douments inlude Justies of the Peae (JPs), Commissioners for Delarations, and legal pratitioners. The APS also aepts douments whih have been ertified by an aountant, notary, pharmaist, physiotherapist, polie offier or psyhologist. The ertifying offier must not be a family member or spouse. To have your opies ertified you will need to present both the original and the opy of eah doument to the person ertifying the opies. Eah opy of the doument must be ertified separately and must show learly: the words ertified as a true opy of the original ; the signature of the ertifying offier; and the name and address or provider/registration number (where appropriate) of the ertifying offier legibly printed below the signature. It must be possible, from the details provided, for the APS to ontat the ertifying offier if neessary. Please note that it is the ertified doument itself whih must be submitted with your appliation. A photoopy of a ertified doument is not valid. 12 OF 14

Guidelines and proedures ontinued... Fees The ost of the assessment fee depends on the purpose for whih you need the assessment. Employment Entry to an Australian tertiary ourse in psyhology $1,045.45 AUD $780.00 AUD The assessment fee must be paid in Australian dollars and must aompany your appliation form as: a heque, postal order or international bank draft made payable to The Australian Psyhologial Soiety Ltd; or by ompleting the redit ard details (Visa, Masterard, or Amerian Express) on the Assessment of Psyhology Qualifiations appliation form. Do NOT send ash as payment of the assessment fee. The APS is not responsible for the loss of ash sent by post. In addition, the APS does not aept diret bank transfers for payment of the assessment fee. A tax invoie/reeipt will be issued following the proessing of your appliation. Please note that the assessment fee is not refundable under any irumstanes. Fees as outlined above are urrent until 31 May 2019. If applying after this date you should note that the assessment fee may hange, and you must obtain an updated form from the APS website at psyhology.org.au or from the National Offie of the APS (refer to the bak page for ontat details). If you do not submit a urrent form and the urrent fee, the proessing of your appliation will be delayed while we obtain the orret fee and neessary information from you. GST Explanation Setion 38-110 of the A New Tax System (Goods and Servies Tax) At 1999 states that a supply by a professional assoiation of the assessment of qualifiations for the purpose of (a) aess to eduation or (b) employment, is GST-free. Agents The APS normally deals diretly with appliants seeking an assessment of their qualifiations. Privay provisions prohibit the APS from disussing your appliation with other people (third parties) unless it is speifially authorised to do so. If you want someone suh as a family member or migration agent to deal with the APS on your behalf, please attah a letter signed by you whih authorises that person (by name) to at as your agent. Please speify on your Assessment of Psyhology Qualifiations appliation form where you would like the APS Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations to be sent (that is, to your personal address or to that of your agent). If you want the APS to send the Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations to your agent s address, please speify this on the front of your appliation form. Reassessment Should you disagree with the Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations deision made by the APS you should ontat the APS by phone, fax or email to disuss your assessment. If, after disussion with APS assessment staff you are still dissatisfied with the APS deision and are able to provide new material in support of a re-assessment, you should put your onerns in writing, requesting a re-assessment of your qualifiations and attahing the additional supporting doumentation. Your letter should be addressed to the Coordinator Assessments, APS, at the address listed on the bak page. The APS will onsider your appliation for re-assessment on the basis of your letter and the additional doumentation supplied in support of your appliation, and respond to you in writing. Time Frame The assessment of psyhology qualifiations is a omplex proess and your assessment may take some time. The APS advises a proessing time of approximately 8 weeks for an assessment. When your assessment is ompleted, you will be notified of the outome in writing and by email. 13 OF 14

After you reeive a Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations After the APS has ompleted its assessment of your qualifiations, you will reeive a letter and a Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations whih indiates the omparability of your qualifiations in terms of Australian qualifiations. Keep the Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations as you may be harged a fee (urrently AUD $30) for a replaement. The Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations you are issued by the APS is a very important doument whih may be used for several purposes: to assist ourse o-ordinators of universities determine your eligibility for entry to their aredited psyhology ourses; to help employers determine your eligibility for a partiular job. Please note that a positive assessment does not guarantee you ourse entry or employment. The independent assessment is made by the nominated psyhology assessing body*, and as suh provides only an opinion on the omparability of your psyhology qualifiations in Australia. The Statement of Psyhology Qualifiations you are issued by the APS is valid for ten (10) years from the date of the letter. However if you are seeking ourse entry into a postgraduate program in psyhology please hek with the university for its time limit requirements. * The APS is the national assessing authority in Australia for the assessment of overseas aademi qualifiations in psyhology for the purposes of migration to Australia as a psyhologist under the Skilled Migration Categories.
