For skill events, this may include thinking out loud so that judges are clear on why the competitors are doing what they are doing. Sample Test Questions Sample test questions are included in the event guidelines found in the HOSA Handbook Section B. Most Current Guidelines All event guidelines were updated in September 2014. Changes are often made during the National Competitive Events Committee Meeting in January 2014 and they are effective immediately. If changes are made, a note is made under Event Updates at the top of Section B at http://www.hosa.org/node/117 and the date at the bottom of the guidelines is updated. All competitors are encouraged to do a final verification of guidelines on February 15, 2015. It is the responsibility of the competitor to assure that they are using the most current event guidelines 23

No denim clothing or canvas shoes will be acceptable unless noted otherwise. Jeggings, and leggings of any color are never acceptable at SLC. Shorts are NOT acceptable. RUNNING FOR HOSA STATE OFFICE Become a Chapter, State, or National Leader of HOSA If your dream is to be a future health professional, community leader, or public servant then getting involved in the HOSA Officer Leadership Program is for you. Get started at the local level as a chapter officer or a committee member. Take the extra step to become a state officer or even a national officer. As an officer you will receive training, plan incredible projects, meet with civic and industry leaders, lead service projects, design public relations and communication efforts, and assist in planning leadership conferences. Anyone willing to make this kind of commitment and has the drive to succeed, and dedication to get the job done should seriously consider running for state office. If considering, it is recommended that members consult with their local advisor to obtain their opinion and their advice. Those who decide to run for office can be assured that holding state office will be one of the most memorable experiences of their life as well as one of the most effective career preparation experiences they could ever have while in high school. National Officer Selection Process Members wishing to take their HOSA involvement to the highest level can serve on the National Executive Council. National officers are the ambassadors of HOSA and represent the 150,000+ HOSA members. Any Cal-HOSA member interested in running for national office must first follow the process of running for the state office. If successfully elected to the state office, the State Advisor will interview the candidate and then have the option of endorsing them to run for national office. STATE OFFICER PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES Chapter Visits The state officers may be available to visit your local chapter. Having a state officer visit a local chapter connects that state officer with local members all the while giving the state officer an opportunity to promote state and national conferences, programs, and initiatives.
