The Community FoodBank of New Jersey has many offsite volunteer opportunities where you can help those in need in your local community: Pediatric Mobile Pantry Program: Mondays, 10:30am 3:00pm Tuesdays, 11:30am 4:00pm Fridays, 10:30am 3:00pm Beth Israel Hospital Mount Teman Church Father English Center Newark Elizabeth Paterson Opportunity: Assist staff with unloading of groceries, site set up, distribution of food to clients referred by local pediatric programs & clinics. Pantries operate outdoors, rain or shine. Comfortable/casual attire; closed toed shoes required. Sign up for as many dates or sites as is convenient. To volunteer, sign up online at www.jerseycares.org. Food Show Pick-ups: Opportunity: Assist our staff in picking up and packing up food items donated by the show s vendors. Requires light physical activity on your feet for approximately 2-3 hrs. Commitment of ½ hour per week for the length of the campaign from October through January is requested. Students Change Hunger Annual Food Drive/Competition: Opportunity: Are you a young person who wants to help your hungry neighbors in NJ? Ask your Principal or a teacher to register your school for our state-wide food drive competition! Collect food at your school between Sept 15 & - Nov 21, 2014; the schools that bring in the most food will be presented with awards by their local food bank. And you will have made a big difference to many people. CFBNJ Agency Direct Pick-Up - Volunteer Driver Program: Opportunity: The FoodBank is seeking volunteer drivers to help move product from select retail outlets directly to our partner agencies. We match agencies without access to vehicles and/or drivers to volunteer drivers in their local area to help facilitate food pick-ups from local retail establishments and subsequent drop-off at the agency. Suitable for age 18 or older with valid NJ driver s license and vehicle; pick-up truck or van preferable, but will depend on the agency and size of pick-up. Orientation and guidelines will be provided.
