F/ NORTH WARD CO-CIRRICULAR ACTIVITIES 2013-14 To, The Principal, High School/ Junior College, F/N Ward, Mumbai. Subject: F/North Ward Co-curricular Activities 2013-14. Respected Madam/ Sir, Ward level Co-Curricular Activities (C.C.A) will be held from September 2013 to October 2013 for the academic year 2013-14. All the principals are required to send their participants from Std. V to Std. XII for the various competitions according to the three groups (Jr. Group- G1, Senior Group- G2 & Jr. College- G3). Essay and elocution competitions will be conducted in three languages i.e. English, Hindi and Marathi. The topic will be the same. Participating schools may translate the same in other languages. Events for Teachers on 19/09/2013 will be held at NKES High School, Wadala at 10:30 am. 1. Mono- Acting: Topic- Any Historical Figure. 2. Elocution- English/ Hindi/ Marathi: Topic-The teaching profession has lost its charm. 3. Essay - English/ Hindi/ Marathi: Topic- Upgradation of teacher s knowledge a must in today s scenario. RULES &REGULATIONS FOR COMPETITIONS GROUP COMPETITIONS: 1) Band: Each school can send only one entry. Type of Band: Welcome, Guard of honour, Retreat, (Swagat, Manvandan, Nirgaman). The display will be in this order only. No national anthem during competition. Time Duration: 10 Minutes. No. of students: 15-20 2) Lezim: Each school can only one entry Types : Dakhani practicals to be presented. No. of participants: upto 40. Time limit : 7 minutes (with entry and exit) Uniform : White Salwar Kameez/ Skirt for Girls. White half pant and Baniyan for Boys or School Uniform. Time limit and uniform to be strictly observed.

3) Traditional Folk Dance: (only for G1, G2 and G3). G1- Stds V to VII G2- Stds VIII to X. G3 - Stds XI and XII. Group consisting of a maximum of 17 dancers and 7 accompaniments (musicians and singers) 1. Recorded tapes will only be allowed. 2. Decent Folk Songs and costumes will be appreciated. 3. Time limit: 5 to 7 minutes. Rules and Regulations: 1. Please note that weightage is given to the selection of theme and its cultural value. Film songs will be disqualified. Marking Scheme: 1. Rhythm - 10 2. Co-ordination - 10 3. General Presentation - 10 4. Authentic Costumes - 10 5. Theme and Cultural value - 10 Total - 50 4) Group Singing: ( For Group G-1, G-2, G-3) 1. Max. Time limit is 5 minutes. 2. Number of students should be between 5 to 10. 3. Non- filmy Patriotic songs will only be permitted. 4. Harmonium and Tabla will be permitted as accompaniment by School Teachers only belonging to Participating School. Principal must certify that the teacher Accompanying the Sugam Sangeet Harmonium and Tabla. Scheme of Marking: 1. Voice : 10 2. Laya : 10 3. Bhava : 10 4. Selection of song : 10 5. Performance : 10 Total : 50

INDIVIDUAL COMPETITIONS: 1) Elocution: 1. TOPIC: G1- a) Duty towards my nation b) People do not care for the aged nowadays. Discuss. G2- a) Are we prepared to face the challenges of nature? b) Students are not interested in pure science. Discuss. G3- a) Impact of modern technology in a student s life. b) Use of alternative energy is the need of the hour 2. Only one entry per school in each group. 3. Languages- English, Hindi and Marathi. No separate prize for each language. From all languages only two participants will be selected for zonal level competition. 4. Time Limit- 5 minutes. Marking Scheme: 1. Clarity : 10 2. Expression : 10 3. Co-relation of voice and gestures : 10 4. Contents and languages : 10 5. Time management : 10 Total : 50 2) Essay- Writing: 1. TOPIC: G1- a. Usage of water Harvesting b. Science in our daily life G2- a. Prevention of overcrowding of cities b. India in 2020 s G3- a. How to reduce the wastage of bio-fuel b. Industrialization and Indian economy 2. Only one entry per school in each group. 3. Languages- English, Hindi and Marathi. 4. Time limit- one hour 5. Essay has to be in about 300 words for G1, 400 words for G2 and 500 words for G3.

3. Mono- Acting: 1. TOPIC: Any non controversial character. 2. Participants: One from each group (G1 to G4). 3. Instructions: 1. Time limit maximum five minutes for each group. 2. Costumes relevant to the character will be allowed. 3. Scheme of marking: a. Presentation : 10 b. Voice Modulation : 10 c. Expression : 10 d. Gestures : 10 e. Impact : 10 Total : 50 4) Instrumental Music: Competitions comprise of following major sections. a) String instruments (Tantu Vadya)- Co Sitar, Violin, Guitar, Veena, Santur (Casio not allowed). b)precussion Instrument ( Tal Vadya)- Tabla ( Tal and types of Tal), Dholak, Mrudanga. c) Wind Instrument (Sur Vadya)- Harmonium, Flute, Mouth Organ. Rules and Regulations: 1. Students should bring their own instruments. 2. Time allotted to competition is limited ot 7 minutes or else it will be disqualified. 3. One student can select only one instrument, supporting instrument will be allowed. 4. Only national songs/ Ragas will be allowed to be played.

Scheme of Marking: 1. Shruti : 15 2. Laya : 15 3. Raga : 10 4. Impact : 10 TOTAL : 50 5) Drawing Competition (Drawing for Std. V to Std.VII & Poster making for Std. VIII to Std XII): 1. TOPIC: G1- Festivals G2- Save Environment G3- National Integration 2. Drawing paper: Will be provided. 3. Time Limit for both groups 2 hours. 4. Materials to be used: poster colour, Water colour, Oil paste etc. 6) Rangoli: Rangoli should be eco-friendly. 2 x 2 space will be provided. Geometric Designs only. Time limit : 2 hours. No Grains, No salt, No cartoons. 7) Quiz: 2 students from each group. 8) Street Play: 1. One Group- 12 to 15 students 2. Time Limit 7 minutes. 3. Theme: Science based or environmental. 4. Only 2 groups G2 and G3.
