J.R.Tucker High School Scholarship News February 2012 Tips for Scholarships: Read through this scholarship newsletter and note any scholarships for which you may qualify. Some scholarships will have an on-line application, others may be available in the Scholarship Drawer in the School Counseling Office. Some scholarships will require a transcript - 10 school days are required to process a transcript request. Granville P. Meade Scholarship a $2,000/year for four years scholarship is available to Virginia high school students based upon financial need and merit. Student must be planning to attend an in-state college/university. If interested, submit a resume and financial information form (can be found in the School Counseling Office) to Ms. Blackman by 4:00 on Friday, February 24 th. Joe Cleres Memorial Scholarship Program open to anyone who has a disability either mentally or physically challenged. Awards will vary between $500 and $1500 based on tuition needs. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program this program annually rewards up to 20 college bound students who demonstrate exemplary leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship with $10,000 renewable scholarships. Futures in Aerospace Scholarship open to all high school seniors who intend to pursue a study in engineering or the physical or applied sciences pertinent to aerospace. Applicants must be either a dependent or a member of the Hampton Roads Section of the AIAA or a resident of the counties/cities comprising the AIAA Hampton Roads Section. Henrico Retired School Personnel Association a $1,000 scholarship is available to a graduating senior from Henrico County. Richmond Association of Phi Beta Kappa one $1500 merit scholarship and one $1000 scholarship are available to graduation seniors in the Richmond area. Henricopolis Soil & Water Conservation District three $1,000 scholarships are available to students who are planning to major in a conservation-related field such as environmental science, forestry, meteorology, or agriculture. Lillard VAOC Scholarship Program scholarship available to a Virginia high school senior with an unweighted GPA of 3.75 who is planning a career in the field of aviation. Chesapeake District of Civitan International Annual Scholarship Fund - seeking applications from area high schools seniors to be considered for one of the several District awards which range between $1,000 and $1,500. Virginia Council on the Status of Women 2012 STEM Essay Contest a $5000 scholarship is available to the winner of this essay contest. Beverly Ziegler Scholarship a $1,000 scholarship is available to a Henrico County student. Student must have a GPA of 3.7 or higher and write an essay at least one page in length based on the student s plan for college and why they feel they should receive the scholarship. VSGA-VIP Scholarship scholarships available to Virginia high school students who have an interest in golf and will attend college within the commonwealth. Henrico School Librarians Learning for Life Scholarship - $1000 scholarship available. Created for graduates planning to pursue study or training beyond high school with evidence of a commitment to the promotion of libraries and literacy. Minimum GPA 2.5. SCHOOL SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS these scholarships are for students who plan to apply to these specific colleges or universities HENRICO COUNTY/VCU ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP - The Henrico County Board of Supervisors, along with VCU and the Economic Development Authority are offering a scholarship to be awarded to a senior from each HCPS high school to attend the VCU School of Engineering. VIRGINIA TECH PAMPLIN SCHOLARSHIP - The Pamplin Leader is a one-year merit-based $1,000 tuition scholarship. The scholarship is presented annually to one student from each public high school in Virginia who has applied to Virginia Tech, is admitted and accepts the offer of admission. The scholarship is open to students applying to all majors. In Pamplin Leaders, we seek students with a record of outstanding academic achievement that is balanced with a commitment to community service and leadership experience.
