From the Editor 2011 September The activities of the College for the past one year were concluded at the Annual General Meeting, and a new cabinet of office bearers was elected for years 2011-2013, together with election of Council Members for the coming three years. An Extraordinary General Meeting was convened to further amend the Memorandum & Articles of Association of the College at the request of Companies Registry. This would allow the College to be exempted from taxation. The College continues its mission to promote the advancement of cardiovascular medicine through its organization of scientific activities and professional education. In addition, promotion of cardiovascular health and public education, which is the other mission of the College, has been ongoing since the inception of the College. The College is proud to have achieved its missions more extensively than most other medical organizations locally. The coming Cardiovascular Interventional Summit in November is a major interventional cardiology meeting in this part of China. This is a unique opportunity to share interventional cardiology knowledge and experience with fellow colleagues. New activities are added in the World Heart Day activities this year. These include a debate between the two Medical Societies of The University of Hong Kong and The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Family Health Check programme. All these activities are not possible without the active participations of our members. Fortunately, more and more members are playing an active role both in the scientific as well as the community activities. Every member of the College is encouraged to participate in College affairs, to show your support of the College, to continuous advance your knowledge of cardiovascular medicine, and to promote public awareness of cardiovascular health for the benefit of the community.
