Remember to Enroll for 2017-2018 Please get enrolled ASAP! RE-enrollment (you were in 4-H last year) deadline is January 1 st! New enrollment (this will be your first year) deadline is May 1 st to compete in events, travel, or do county/state fair. Members may still join clubs after May 1 st, but they will NOT be eligible to compete in any county, district, or state events. Go to nm.4honline.com Friends of 4-H Dinner Saturday, December 16, 2017 6:00 pm At the 4-H Center 4-H Day at the Roundhouse Mark your calendars as 4-H Day at the Roundhouse will be January 23rd. The agenda will be similar as to previous years. We will be implementing a mandatory training for any 4-H members or adults that want to attend. There will also be a customizable template similar to what was used last year so that members can have their own personal 4-H handout to present to their legislators. It is important for County Agents to review members handouts prior to printing. Training will be available in three formats; 1) online training December 19th at 4:00pm 2) watch recorded online training any time after December 19th or 3) county agents may use the state materials to conduct their own training. It will be up to each county to make sure that their participants are properly trained prior to attending the event. The link to the live online training is https://zoom.us/j/180297747. International Night will be held at the 4-H Center on February 10 th. Clubs, please send Brittany your 3 choices for countries by December 22 nd. Keep an eye out for specifics on the event as well as the annual Food Safety Training. The next committee meeting is December 12th 6:00pm at the Extension Office. New Mexico 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Certification Dates Set *(Date Change) Due to circumstances beyond our control, we need to move our 4- H Shooting Sports Training Certification dates to February 23-25. Please let your leaders in your county know of the change. We will still have it in las Cruces, but just move down the calendar a week. The on-line registration will be open on December 1st with a cost of $70.00. The registration will be on the 4-H online program so leaders will need to be approved and in the system prior to registration. I did increase the class size to 25 per disciple to help accommodate everyone. Registration is not complete until I receive the proper paperwork (medical release and code of conduct) and a one check from the county. Please contact Craig if you have any questions. The policy for maintain certification, according to our policies and procedures, is as follows: 5. Maintaining State 4-H Shooting Sports Certification a. To maintain certification an instructor/ leader must be active two out of three consecutive years. If inactive for two consecutive years, re-certification is required. More information on the training will be posted on the state 4-H websites as it becomes available. 7
Community Service Scholarship Criteria Available to any Novice, Junior or Senior 4-H Member serving as a State 4-H Officer, Ambassador, Diplomat or participant in a 4-H activity Must submit a New Mexico 4-H Community Service Scholarship application form which is available on the website. The event is going to take place in Las Cruces on January 26-28, 2018. The event is a three-day, two-night event filled with great workshops and neat opportunities. During the weekend, youth will be involved in hands-on activities while learning about college degrees, leadership skills, community service, and much more! There will also be time for them to cut the rug and show their dancing skills! The 2017 Ambassadors and Diplomats are excited about putting on this event for all who attend!
