1. Registration / Campus Housing Move-In A. New Member Registration / Move In Thursday, August 16 Band Room (Haas Center for Performing Arts, Room 1515) between 8am 12pm. Any member who has checked out a GVSU-owned instrument (Mellophone, Baritone or Sousaphone) for the summer must bring the instrument to registration to be rechecked out (new contract) for the fall semester. B. Returner Registration / Move In Friday, August 17 Band Room (Haas Center for Performing Arts, Room 1515) between 8am 12pm. Any member who has checked out a GVSU-owned instrument (Mellophone, Baritone or Sousaphone) for the summer must bring the instrument to registration to be rechecked out (new contract) for the fall semester. C. Those who have GVSU campus housing MUST register at the Haas Center for Performing Arts before moving into your housing. You should arrive as early as possible to get your housing information/key and allow plenty of time to unload. See Section 2 Housing for Move In Schedule. D. Refer to Section 10 2018 Band Camp Schedule for more detailed schedule for your respective move in day. 2. Housing If are living in campus housing during the school year, arrangements have been made for you to move into your dorm or living center for band camp at no cost to you. Do not call the housing office. The band has informed them of your early move-in date. When you register at band camp you will be given instructions on where to pick up your key. Move - In Schedule: LMB Student Leadership Tuesday, August 14 10:00am-12:00pm New Members Thursday, August 16 8:00am -12:00pm Returning Members Friday, August 17 8:00am -12:00pm Please indicate your housing status on the online Band Camp Registration Form. If you are planning to live off-campus during the academic year, you should contact your individual landlord to make arrangements for early move-in. This is usually not a problem but if a conflict should occur, please contact us and we will assist you in finding accommodations during band camp. 3. Meals There is no charge for meals during band camp. Meals will be provided with the exception of lunch on Thursday, August 16 and lunch on Friday, August 17. For your health and well being, everyone is required to attend all meals. Those with a GVSU unlimited meal plan will use their meal cards when we eat at campus dining beginning Monday, August 20.

4. Pregame Music and Show #1 MEMORIZATION VIDEO REQUIREMENTS A) All winds and percussionists are REQUIRED to have your Pregame & Show #1 music MEMORIZED when you report to Band Camp. B) To ensure that this requirement is met, ALL members (including Section Leaders) will submit Youtube video links of different sections of Pregame and Show #1 demonstrating your memorization. You must face camera for all videos. C) Youtube Video Uploading: a. Create videos and submit the Youtube links to GVSULMB@gvsu.edu between August 6 August 15. Please select unlisted when you upload the videos to Youtube. This will ensure that no one can search for them and there are no copyright violations. b. Video Pregame A (mm=140), Alma Mater (mm=88), National Anthem (mm=96) c. Video Pregame B (mm=140), Pregame C (mm=104), Pregame D (mm=140) d. Video Pregame E (mm=140), Pregame F (mm=140), Pregame G, (mm=140), #38 GVSU Tag (mm=132) e. Video Show #1 Tunes 1 & 2 f. Video Show #1 Tunes 3 & 4 g. Submit all Youtube links in 1 (one) e-mail. h. Review the "Youtube Video Uploading" instructions on the Youtube site or contact your section leader for assistance. D) Begin to practice Flexibility 1, 2 & 3 Warm Ups 5. Accessing Music and Charts 1) Go to the GVSU Marching Band website (www.gvsu.edu/marchingband) 2) Click on the tab entitled "Members Only" 3) USERNAME: Enter your GVSU e-mail username (ex. johnmartin@mail.gvsu.edu - USERNAME = johnmartin 4) PASSWORD: Enter your GVSU e-mail password. 5) For those students who do not have GVSU e-mail and for those who are not sure what to do: USERNAME: louie PASSWORD: golakers 6) Download your music part for Pregame and Show #1. 7) Check the "2018 Pregame and Show #1 Part Assignment Lists. Please open it to check your part assignment. 6. Instruments / Equipment The following school-owned marching instruments are available at no charge; however, the student is liable for any damage, or if the instrument is lost/stolen: Baritones Drumline Mellophones Sousaphones Color Guard If you need to use any school-owned instrument this year, please indicate that on the

Band Camp Registration Form. Arrangements can be made to pick up your instrument early by contacting Dr. Martin at GVSULMB@gvsu.edu or by phone at 616-328-1500. 7. Flip Folders and Lyres A. Lyres - All wind players and percussionists are required to have a lyre for your instrument (Piccolo players will need an arm lyre). GVSU provides lyres for the following university owned instruments: mellophones, baritones, and snare. Sousaphones do not use a lyre. B. Flip folders - ALL WIND AND PERCUSSION MEMBERS must provide your own flip folder with a minimum of 15 pages. 8. Band Camp Costs / Fees / Travel Expenses 1) The Band Camp Registration Fee is $40 that covers social activities and other necessary costs during band camp. All Members are required to pay this fee. 2) The Uniform Cleaning Fee is $10. All Members are required to pay this fee. 3) New members are provided: LMB Baseball Cap, Winter Knit Cap, LMB T-shirt, and 1 st pair of gloves, and LMB Scarf. 4) Returners are provided with the LMB T-Shirt, 1 st pair of gloves, 3 rd Year Hoodie or 4 th Year Jacket, and LMB Scarf. 5) Returners can order a replacement LMB T-Shirt and/or Winter Knit Hat and LMB Baseball cap, but must e-mail GVSULMB@gvsu.edu with requested item(s) and size(s). You will pay for the items at band camp. (LMB T-shirt - $10.00 / Winter Knit Hat and LMB Baseball cap - $24.00) 6) Marching Shoes: A. All wind and percussion members are responsible for black marching shoes (i.e. Drillmasters, Dingles, etc.), lyre, and flip folder expenses. B. Color Guard members are responsible for your shoes; Mrs. Sikkema will provide information. C. All shoes (Winds, Percussion, & Color Guard) can be bought at Orefice LTD (1-800-968-2007). Please let Orefice know that you are with the GVSU Marching Band when placing your order. You may pay with a credit card. The shoes will be delivered to GVSU Bands in August. All orders must be placed by August 6 with Orefice LTD. 7) All travel expenses are covered by GVSU Bands and each student will be given a per diem (cash) for meals while traveling. 9.
