LINK 22 Link 22 OIWG Background The Link 22 Operational Implementation Working Group (OIWG) was Established Based on a Request from the NATO Improved Link Eleven (NILE) Project to SHAPE /ACT At a Preliminary Meeting in January 2004 at the NATO School in Oberammergau, GE, OIWG Members were Identified and Terms of Reference were Agreed upon. Initial OIWG Areas of Interest were Identified, Including Development of Updates to the NATO Bi-SC Multi-TADIL Concept of Employment (COE), AdatP 22, and STANAG 5522 The 2 nd OIWG occurred on 26 30 April 2004 in St Tropez, FR. The 3 rd OIWG occurred on 10 14 January 2005 in The Hague, NL. 18

Link 22 OIWG Meeting - Results/Accomplishments National Link 22 Implementation Briefings Facilitated Discussions, Information Exchange and Follow-on Actions Continued Development of a Link 22-inclusive NATO Multi- TADIL Concept of Employment (COE), Creating a Plan of Action for all Nations Convened Splinter Groups for ADatP-22, STANAG 5522, and Network Planning and Initialization Link 22 OIWG proposed approaches to support DLWG in development of the Link 22 portion of the ADatP-33 (Spain has volunteered to draft working paper for DLWG): Link 22 OIWG act as Link 22 Annex lead directly to DLWG, or Designated Link 22 OIWG Nation to act as liaison between OIWG and DLWG. 21

Link 22 OIWG Meeting Major Action Items All Link 22 OIWG member nations to develop and provide their multiple-network approaches to Mission Area Sub- Network (MASN) operational implementation. All nations to review the ADatP-22 Splinter Group revisions to ADatP-22, Chapters 5 and following, and provide comments. NILE PMO to include Link 22 OIWG recommendations in developing a presentation regarding HF High Data Rate (HDR) to be made to the NILE Steering Committee (SC). NCTSI, NILE PMO, and the U.S. Link 22 OIWG representative to develop an EXTAC 779 review process. 25
