Description of the location (The premises and the area around them, access, adaptations, equipment, facilities, suitability for relevant special needs, staffing & qualifications etc) Broadwaters is a multi purpose estabishment that provides twenty four hour care to meet the assessed needs of older people in a supportive environment. A multi-disciplinary team work with our clients and/or carers to improve and maintain daily living skills, promote health and wellbeing and enable our clients to remain as independent as possible. The property has 29 bedrooms arranged over two floors and is located in its own garden area with views over the River Stour to Christchurch Priory. The Mobile Nights Service has been designed to bridge the gap between domiciliary daytime services and the provision of waking or sleeping night care. There are a wide range of situations where a service user will need planned or emergency assistance at night, but where these needs are moderate or do not require continuous care throughout the night, mobile nights can be utilised to fulfil these needs and works to prevent unnecessary hospital admission The service is closely allied with the Councils Out of Hours Service and operated by Tricuro staff, working in pairs, who will visit service users in their own homes. The Mobile Nights team is based at Broadwaters, with separate office space for the Service. The provision of the Mobile Nights service from Broadwaters does not affect the current service and there is no disruption caused to the residents as their office is in a remote part of the building. The security of the building is maintained by door alarms and checks by staff, particularly at night. The Mobile Night Service does not have any access to the client records relating to Broadwaters. The service can actively compliment the current service provision at Broadwaters by supporting discharges for clients returning to their own homes who require further short term night time support. Fire Procedures are in place and include, regular fire drills, testing of equipment, a annual risk assessment and staff training. Staff receive regular training in Supporting Carers with medicines including regular competency assessments. Tricuro has a complaints and compliments policy and procedure Our recruitment processes are very stringent, new employees do not commence until all necessary checks are undertaken. Tricuro is an equal opportunities employer and we have a full interview process in place. We manage our staffing ratio according to care requirements and the needs of the service users, working in a person centered way at all times, as either part of a planned service or as an emergency immediate response visit. Staff from both services attend the five-day Adult Care Services Care Certificate training. A range of other courses which include Safe handling of medication, Moving and Handling; Health and Safety; First aid; Continence Support; Infection control; Physical disabilities; Sensory loss; Dementia; Working with diversity; Safeguarding Adults; Managing challenging behaviour; Diabetes; Mental Capacity Act and DOLS, Bereavement and loss.
