A minimum Nursing GPA of 3.300 is required on the prerequisite and corequisite courses completed at the time of application. 4. If my Nursing GPA is below 3.300 am I eligible to apply? No. We regret a Nursing GPA of 3.300 is required to apply. If you are looking for other program options, here is a link to the California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) list of accredited nursing programs, http://www.rn.ca.gov/education/rnprograms.shtml. There are over 140 nursing programs in California! We recommend you only consider regionally accredited colleges and programs approved by the BRN. 5. If my Nursing GPA is 3.299, do you round up to 3.300? No. 6. Do I include pluses and minuses? No. Pluses and minuses are dropped! For example, a B- or a B+ would be treated as a B in all of the nursing GPA calculations. 7. Do I use the units and grade points on my transcripts when I calculate my GPA? Do I need to include my corequisite grades in my Nursing GPA? Even if it is over 7 years old? Yes. Any course which satisfies a corequisite content area will be included in the Nursing GPA calculation. 10. Do I need to include my lab grade (if separate) for anatomy or A&P I, physiology or A&P II, and microbiology? Yes. 11. May I include my chemistry lab grade to boost my GPA? Yes, but it cannot be any lab, it must be the lab associated with the course no exceptions. 12. Am I allowed to use a D grade? No. All prerequisite and corequisite courses must be completed with a grade of C- or better. 13. If a science course I completed at a UC converts to less than 4 semester units, would I still use 4 units? Yes. 14. If a course I completed at a UC converts to less than 3 semester units, would I still use 3 units? Correct! 15. Enter all 3 courses on your supplemental nursing application and weight each course 2.666 units. 16. I attend a quarter system school and I completed 3 courses to satisfy the life span human development requirement how do I calculate my GPA? List all 3 courses on your supplemental nursing application and weight each course 1 unit.
17. May I be enrolled in my last science course and repeating a science course at the time of application? Yes. However, you may not exclude the prior grade for the repeat since your Nursing GPA and your Minimum Science GPA must include 3 science grades. 18. If I am repeating a course, may I show the course in progress and omit my prior grade? Within the limits of the Nursing, In Progress and Repeat policies, you may show the course in progress and exclude the prior grade from your Nursing GPA calculation. If you fail or drop the course, your GPA will be recalculated with the previous grade which may change your admission status. 19. If I apply with a course in progress, will you recalculate my GPA after grades are posted? Your GPA will only be recalculated if you fail or drop a course. We recommend you achieve the highest grade possible in case you need to reapply. If you are selected for admission, we will provide you with the deadline to submit transcripts for your in-progress course work with your orientation materials. 20. Is there a deadline to complete the 8 prerequisite courses? All 8 prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of the fall term when applying for spring end of the spring term when applying for fall. There are no exceptions to this policy. 21. May I have any prerequisite courses in progress during the summer if I am applying for fall admission? No. All eight prerequisite courses must be completed by the end of the spring term no exceptions. 22. Is there a deadline to complete the 4 corequisite courses? Nutrition, Life Span Human Development, and Introductory Psychology must be completed before the start of the second semester of the clinical nursing program. A societal-cultural patterns course must be completed before graduation. Due to the rigors of the nursing program, we strongly recommend completion prior to admission. 23. Is there a recency requirement do my courses expire? No. Your courses do not expire at Sac State! We recommend you seek advisement from each program you are considering policies vary.
