JYBSA Lease Agreement and Building Acceptance City Council Meeting January 27th, 2014
JYBSA Lease Agreement Janesville Youth Baseball & Softball Association, Inc. (JYBSA) requested their lease be updated to describe their leased area and fine-tune responsibilities in light of the new buildings and athletic fields. The City s first lease with JYBSA was in 1999 and the lease was expanded in 2007 when JYBSA decided to move their entire sports operations to the Youth Sports Complex. Now that construction is completed, staff and JYBSA feel it appropriate to further update the lease to describe their leased area and fine-tune responsibilities in light of the new buildings and athletic fields.
JYBSA Lease Agreement The lease is for 15 years and automatically renews for an additional 10 years. The City or JYBSA may terminate the lease with one year notice. JYBSA shall maintain their leased area to appropriate standards and obtain permission from the City prior to making future improvements. JYBSA may continue their naming rights program; naming rights for major donations to the development or fields would be permanent, while naming rights for smaller donations would be allowed for the life of the lease. JYBSA is required to work with the City to encourage recycling during their sports season.
JYBSA Building Acceptance The group received permission to construct two restroom/concession stand buildings at the Youth Sports Complex. The City owns the sports complex property; any structures built on city-owned land become the property of the City following the completion of construction. The request for acceptance before the Council solidifies the City s willingness to accept these buildings and allows them to be insured as City property. The Council also accepted the Youth Football building at the sports complex for City ownership in the early 2000s.
