Whatever the mind can conceive and believe, the mind can achieve. Dr. Napoleon Hill WELCOME from Lee Sharma Lee Sharma MA, PGCE, BSc Econ CEO, Simply Do Ideas THE WORLD BANK ESTIMATES THAT THE GLOBAL ECONOMY NEEDS 600 MILLION NEW JOBS OVER THE NEXT TEN YEARS JUST TO KEEP EMPLOYMENT RATES CONSTANT There is growing recognition that developing enterprising behaviours has a positive impact on career outcomes. This is no longer just about business starts but about meeting employers demands for more creative, independent and action-focused recruits. So I m delighted to see strategic shifts in curriculum frameworks to include entrepreneurial learning. As an economist and educator, I m particularly sensitive to the challenges of our global economy and the demands placed on our educational systems. Any solution has to be low-risk but deliver immediate and cost-effective results. I m excited that Simply Do Ideas has been proven to achieve this and privileged to be a part of this enterprise revolution. CEO PROFILE In 1999, Lee started a recruitment agency from the bedroom of a shared flat with no business experience or money. In three years, he rapidly grew the business to include clients such as Legal & General, Panasonic and KPMG ultimately resulting in a successful exit. In 2002, he went from being a startup to helping startups managing two national startup government programmes. In 2007, he then moved into education achieving both a PGCE and Masters in Enterprise Education. He successfully embedded enterprise learning across the curriculum whilst also providing direct startup advice and guidance to prestart entrepreneurs. In 2015, he decided to take this experience and apply what he had learned to create educational technology company Simply Do Ideas. The organisation has grown rapidly and is now serving customers from across all levels of education, national charities, banks and government. 1 2

OUR VALUES OUR PURPOSE Simply Do Ideas empowers organisations to deliver better outcomes across enterprise learning and support. Our core impact areas are: 1. ENTERPRISE EDUCATION Equipping individuals with an enhanced capacity to generate ideas and the skills to make them happen. The goal is personal development and not setting up a new venture or business. 2. SUPPORTING STARTUPS Equipping individuals with the additional knowledge, attributes and capabilities required to apply these abilities in the context of setting up a new venture or business. 3. INDUSTRY INTRAPRENEURSHIP Equipping employees with the abilities to apply entrepreneurial skills and practices from within an existing organisation. EXCELLENCE OUR BELIEFS EDUCATION IS THE ENGINE OF GROWTH COMPASSION TECHNOLOGY IS CHANGING EVERY THING ENGAGEMENT AN IDEA IS PRECIOUS BUT NEVER PERFECT COLLABORATION CONFIDENCE IS BUILT THROUGH EXPERIENCE BEHAVIOURAL IMPACT ENTERPRISE EDUCATION SUPPORTING STARTUPS INDUSTRY INTRAPRENEURSHIP 3 4 INTO ACTION RESOURCES IDEAS & OPPORTUNITIES Motivation & perseverance Self-awareness & self-efficacy Spotting opportunities Creativity Vision Valuing ideas Mobilising resources Entrepreneurship Competence Ethical & sustainable thinking Learning through experience Financial & economic literacy Mobilising others Taking the initiative Planning & management Coping with ambiguity, uncertainity & risk Working with others Bacigalupo, M., Kampylis, P., Punie, Y., Van den Brande, G. 1 ENTERPRISE EDUC ATION Working with schools, academies, colleges, universities and community learning partners THE WORLD OF THOSE NOW LEAVING EDUCATION WILL BE ONE IN WHICH SELF-RELIANCE AND CREATIVITY WILL BE REWARDED AND THE EDUCATION SYSTEM WILL HAVE TO ADAPT. LORD YOUNG, ENTERPRISE FOR ALL, 2014 It was brilliant how we went from concept to developed idea within the space of an hour. The students were able to confidently pitch their ideas to a panel of judges. Claire Renwick (Student Enterprise Manager, SOAS University London) referring to the Dream, Discover, Do event at Google Campus 7 Enterprise Education: Equipping individuals with an enhanced capacity to generate ideas and the skills to make them happen. The goal is personal development and not setting up a new venture or business. As an IOEE-approved Enterprise Academy, Simply Do Ideas empowers educators to: Innovate within existing business and enterprise curriculum areas Embed enterprise education into non-business curriculum areas Support extra-curricular events, workshops and competitions In schools, deliver effective Personal, Social & Health Education (PHSE) Students have all the information they need because Simply Do Ideas has forced them into looking at the different sections of a business idea. 3 INDUSTRY INTR APRENEURSHIP Working with industry partners to capture, test, develop and implement new ideas IN MOST ORGANISATIONS, INNOVATION ISN T HAMPERED BY A LACK OF IDEAS, BUT RATHER A LACK OF NOTICING THE GOOD IDEAS ALREADY THERE. HARVARD BUSINESS REVIEW, JULY 2015 Industry Intrapreneurship: Equipping individuals with the abilities to apply entrepreneurial skills within an existing, corporate or public sector organisation. Simply Do Ideas empowers organisations to: Implement an effective, online method to capture and validate ideas for business improvement Set challenges and manage communication with staff to encourage engagement Easily review and share ideas with key internal and external staff members Create an environment where new ideas are valued and innovation is celebrated WE LOVE NEW IDEAS Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning. - Benjamin Franklin We are always searching to find innovative ways to improve enterprise learning and support. Some recent projects we have delivered include: BEST PRACTICE FRAMEWORK MAPPING with QAA and EntreComp ACCELERATED DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES With university graduate startups NEETS ENTERPRISING MINDSET PROGRAMMES with a range of unemployed young people The Prince s Trust worked with Simply Do Ideas to run a staff idea challenge. The brief was to come up with an innovative idea that would improve ways of working. This involved approximately 40 staff working in teams over a two-hour intensive period. The teams initially developed their ideas using the Concept Canvas. This was followed by creating and delivering their team pitches using the online platform. Their innovative ideas covered themes such as resource efficiency, environmental impact and staff wellbeing.
