GL1065 THE AMERICAN LEGION P.O. Box 361656 Indianapolis, IN 46236-1656 A penny for your thoughts! THE AMERICAN LEGION 2012 Public Opinion Survey Dear Fellow Patriot, If one looks at some of the issues that are being debated in our government buildings and courts, one would think that our society s morals and values have shifted. But I don t buy it. The American Legion needs to know WHAT S IMPORTANT TO YOU... YOUR OPINIONS and POINTS OF VIEW on some specific issues that impact our nation. WOULD YOU HELP US? I need 5 minutes of your time to hear from you. As the largest and most respected veterans organization in the country, The American Legion is committed to serving the needs of our veterans and their families, promoting patriotism, protecting American values in communities across our great country and insuring a strong national security. The enclosed survey could be one of the most important pieces of paper you will hold in your hand this year. Please take it very seriously because the information requested is important to BOTH OF US so that we can better serve our veterans and our community. The American Legion s many programs touch virtually every facet of American life. We fight for and take care of our veterans and active-duty military, we support values that strengthen families and communities and we know the importance of patriotism. With your help, The American Legion is making a difference...whether it s helping a wounded warrior through long months of hospitalization or helping a child of a fallen hero go to college. I hope you will consider sending a special gift, along with the enclosed penny, with your survey to help us continue our work. Legionnaires across our great country work hard every day to serve their communities and their fellow veterans. The American Legion is a respected advocate for veterans issues in Washington, DC, where our nonpartisan efforts allow us to work with all our lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. And that s why we need to constantly keep in touch with the citizens of the communities we serve...which includes you. (over, please)

As thanks for helping The American Legion, I have enclosed a set of beautiful address labels my gift to you for taking the time to fill out the survey. I need you to take the few minutes necessary to complete the enclosed survey and mail it back to me as fast as you can. We want to know how best to protect and honor the traditional American values that make our country great...where to direct resources...address problems... make our volunteer force more effective...and much more. I NEED to hear from you. I want to know where you stand...how you feel about the changes taking place in America...what direction you feel our efforts should take. Your opinion is important to me, because we are in this fight together. I am looking forward to receiving your personal input and I will be thankful that you cared enough to send it back. Sincerely, William A. Pease National Development Director The American Legion P.S. Please send the survey, along with your best gift, back to me as quickly as you can get it in the mail. I hope you will enjoy the enclosed address labels my gift to you! These are critical days in America...and we need your support. A penny for your thoughts! Please let us hear from you today.
