Sessinal cmmitment t be agreed with emplyer and wrked flexibly t allw attendance at key meetings in Otterburne and ther lcatins within Health Educatin Wessex lcatins. 3 years with ptin fr further 3 year renewal f cntract (6 years maximum) CONTEXT: Health Educatin Wessex is respnsible fr the planning, develpment, educatin and training f the healthcare and public health wrkfrce acrss Hampshire, Drset, Isle f Wight and Salisbury. We als prvide medical training fr the States f Jersey and GP appraisal services fr Jersey and Guernsey. We believe that the key t imprving the health and healthcare f the 2.8 millin peple living in Wessex is investment in the skills and values f the 52,000 peple wrking in the NHS and in primary care. Within the field f pstgraduate medical educatin and training, we manage acrss primary and secndary care fr these health cmmunities ttalling arund 2,400 dctrs in training at any ne time acrss 12 Trusts and 160 GP practices. In additin, we supprt the wrkfrce develpment fr GP Practice Nurses and Public Health practitiners as well managing a bespke GP appraisal service fr established GP Practitiners t meet the requirements fr revalidatin in accrdance with the statutry requirements set by the General Medical Cuncil. We manage training prgrammes fr pstgraduate medical training accrding t the statutry standards set by the General Medical Cuncil (GMC) and have respnsibility fr establishing and maintaining quality management systems fr all psts and prgrammes as required by the GMC. The wrk f the Health Educatin Wessex is guided by the principles embedded within the NHS cnstitutin.
JOB SUMMARY: The Training Prgramme Directr is a member f the Specialty Training Cmmittee and managerially respnsible fr the delivery f a quality assured training prgramme meeting GMC, relevant Ryal Cllege r Faculty and LETB standards. The pst-hlder will be a member f the apprpriate Schl Bard. MAIN ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES: Wrk with the Prgramme Manager t deliver a training prgramme that delivers the Cllege r Faculty curriculum, in accrdance with GMC requirements, in educatinally apprved placements. This requires the TPD t be thrughly familiar with their specialty curriculum and aware f frthcming changes. TPDs need t ensure prcesses are cmpleted fr recmmendatin f the award f CCT. Ensure that the training prcess meets curriculum requirements and have an verview f each trainee s achievements f these. Ensure apprpriate access t internal and external training pprtunities. This will include specific respnsibility fr develpment and leadership f frmal Wessex training/study days t deliver key aspects f the curriculum. Key rles will include: rganisatin f study days; curriculum mapping and determinatin f cntent; quality assurance and feedback and facilitatin f trainee engagement. Wrk with the Prgramme Manager t ensure apprpriate rtatins are prduced in line with cde f practice. Participate in lcal and natinal recruitment and selectin, including attendance at assessment centres. Attend and usually chair all Specialty Training Cmmittee meetings. Attend Schl Bard Meetings and establish and maintain a wrking relatinship with the Head f Schl Ensure, with the Prgramme Manager, that Annual Review f Cmpetence Prgressin (ARCP) fr each trainee is in line with Deanery plicy Meet all trainees at least annually utside f the ARCP prcess, and establish a prcess f trainee feedback abut placements in additin t the GMC Natinal Training Survey T ensure systems are in place t deliver and mnitr plans fr trainees with specific learning bjectives (ARCP utcmes 2 r 3) linking with the trainee s Educatinal Supervisr and Assciate Dean fr Prfessinal Supprt as required. Respnsible fr linking with Health Educatin Wessex Quality Management prcesses, respnding t external and internal issues, being part f LETB visits as apprpriate and prviding the Head f Schl with an annual specialty quality reprt. This reprt shuld include :-
A descriptin f the prgramme (numbers f trainees, placement sites, length f prgramme, accuntable Schl within the Deanery) Trainee infrmatin (future appintments, future recruitment plans, IDTs, new appintments, LTFT trainees, OOP, academic trainees, maternity & special leave, and trainee representative) ARCP Outcmes by name. List all with Outcme 1 and prvide a brief summary fr thse trainees n Outcme 2 r 3. List numbers n Outcme 5 as well as thse wh have cmpleted training (Outcme 6). Cnfirm that trainees n an Outcme 2 r 3 have been frmally cmmunicated with and met with their Educatinal Supervisrs t finalise a learning agreement. Maintain cntact with Trust-based Directrs f Medical Educatin, Cllege Tutrs and Educatinal Supervisrs, particularly in relatin t trainees requiring additinal supprt r changes in training placements Participate in TPD rle appraisal led by Head f Schl Act as the Dean s representative, if required, n panels, visits r cmmittees. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Be expected t meet prfessinal requirements fr Cntinuing Prfessinal Develpment and appraisal; including maintenance f an active GMC licence t practise thrugh participatin in appraisal, CPD and prfessinal revalidatin Must cnduct duties in accrdance with Health Educatin Wessex Safety Plicy and in a manner that safeguards the wellbeing f the pst-hlder and clleagues.
