STUDENT ATTENDANCE Matthew Smith

ATTENDANCE PROCEDURES Students are referred to the attendance office upon reaching 6 unexcused absences. Notices are mailed to the parent/guardian to schedule a conference. The notice contains the number of unexcused absences, total number of absences and the percentage of days missed. Parent/guardians are provided with handouts containing information on policies and laws. In addition they are given an attendance improvement plan and information about chronic absences. Students/families are assessed to determine if attendance monitoring is necessary or if additional referrals to community agencies are necessary to assist with the current issue. The Attendance Office collaborates with Juvenile Court, DCS, Frontier Health, Camelot and other community agencies.
