Parade with multiple large floats, including the walking Athens State Artheads, goes through downtown Decatur is Sat., Feb. 10 at 6:00pm (it goes right in front of the ACA on 2nd Avenue) In Athens...Athens State University Artheads Gail Bergeron's art students are once again putting on a block party Mardi Gras parade! "We have the Beads, You bring the Beans!" A parade with a purpose. All collected canned goods will be donated to the LCCI/food bank. Parade: Tues., Feb. 13 at 6:30pm Location: Downtown Athens. Theme: "Things That Fly" -Activities begin at 5:30pm at High Cotton Arts, 103 West Washington St. (Mardi Gras mask making craft for children and free wagon decorating for children who want to participate in the parade) -Athens State University Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL), 121 S. Marion St. 5:30-6:30pm - Free bead making station -Everyone is invited to join the parade and march with the Artheads and Athens High Dixieland Band at 6:30pm. Meet at 6:30pm in front of the CLL. FAMILY NEWS A New Granddaughter Congratulations to Phyllis Claxton in the Office of Human Resources. Phyllis daughter and son-in-law, Jessica and Collier Raley are the proud parents of a new baby girl born January 16th. Iyla McKay Raley was also welcomed by her big brothers, Baker (6) and Everett (4). 6 lbs, 11 oz and 19 long A New Grandson Congratulations to Jeff Gentilcore in the Security Office. Jeff s daughter and son-in-law, Kara and Ben Dailey, are the proud parents of a new baby boy born January 19 th. Tobias Kane Dailey 5 lbs, 15 oz and 18 long Congratulations to Graham Pepper, son of Molly Pepper. Graham received Player of the Year for Limestone County, Decatur Daily All-Area Honorable Mention, and AL.com Huntsville Region Honorable Mention. He is a senior at West Limestone High School.
Our thoughts and sympathy are extended to Dr. Joe Delap in the death of his father, Jim Delap, Wednesday, January 3 rd. His funeral service was in Arkansas. Deepest sympathy to the family of Geraldine Massey. Mrs. Massey was the mother of Jerrie Smith and the grandmother of Cody Smith. Her funeral was Friday, January 19 th, in Athens. Also, deepest sympathy to Penny Roberts in the death of her brother, Phillip Christopher. His funeral was Saturday, January 27 th, in Athens. 2 nd OPPORTUNITY FOR WELLNESS SCREENINGS AND FLU SHOTS Wellness Screenings and Flu Shots for 2017 2018 will be Tuesday, February20 th in the Student Center Ballroom. Appointment information has been emailed to employees. An appointment is not required to receive a flu shot only. POST-RETIREMENT EMPLOYMENT FOR RETIREES To all post-retirement employees: We have been asked by the Retirement Systems of Alabama to share a reminder that every RSA retiree in post-retirement employment must complete and return a Retiree Notice of Postretirement Employment providing all information requested by January 31, 2018. W2 FORMS W2 forms for 2017 are available online by visiting Athens State Online and consenting to receiving an electronic W2. If you have not consented to receive an electronic W2, your paper W2 was mailed to your home address that is on file. ADJUNCT INSTRUCTORS Pay Dates for Adjunct Instructors in the spring semester are the end of February, March, April, and May.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATIONS Performance Evaluations for Staff are due in the Office of Human Resources by February 28, 2018. Evaluations should cover the period of January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2017. Please remember to review Job Descriptions as well.
