Board of Research in Nuclear Science (BRNS) Research Grants BRNS supports Research & Development on advanced concepts relevance to DAE Financed to the universities, research/educational institutions of higher learning and national laboratories. 1. Regular Research Project (RP) Eligibility: Scientists/Engineers working in universities, academic/ research institutions recognized by government and having a regular position R&D organizations of Private Industry, NGO and scientific societies are NOT ELIGIBLE. Applicant should have at least 4 year tenure in the institute. Project should have Principal Investigator (PI), Co- Investigator (CoPI) and Principal Collaborator (PC) Symposium 2016, Kolkata 4
Project should have Principal Investigator (PI), Co- Investigator (CI) should be from same institute CI take care of both technical and financial responsibility in absence of PI. Principal Collaborator (PC) is from any unit of DAE. Participates in project and responsible for the execution of the project. BSC can give final approval, if budget is upto 35 Lakh If budget is > 35 Lakh but <45 Lakh, proposal is put up to one man committee. If budget is >45 Lakh, PI may be asked to defend his proposal in the BRNS Board. Symposium 2016, Kolkata 8
2. Young Scientist Research Award (YSRA) To encourage highly qualified young scientists in the initial years of their career. Eligibility: Same as Regular Research Project (RP) Except that age limit is below 35 years. Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA) To encourage to pursue a career in scientific research in the field of atomic energy Eligibility: For Engineers: Ph.D in Engineering (Those who have submitted thesis for Ph.D. may also apply) or Master's degree in Engineering (M.Tech./ M.E./M.S.) with a minimum of 2-year R&D For Scientists: Ph.D in Science (Those who have submitted Ph.D. thesis may also apply). Age limit is 32 years for general candidates, 35 years for OBC and 37 years for SC/ST and physically challenged persons (as on 1st January). Only Indian Nationals can apply. Research Associates are inducted every year for a period of two years. KSKRA are absorbed in one of the four R&D organizations of the DAE (BARC, CAT, VECC or IGCAR) against regular vacancies.
