Flinders University Health Placement What? Three week Community Health Placement in Vietnam. Students start with a visit to the local hospital in Hanoi and then travel to Mai Chau to work alongside local health staff to set up mobile health clinics in each village. Why? to Where is the placement? Mai Chau, Vietnam Begin with a day shadowing doctors and nurses in a provincial hospital in the capital city, Hanoi. Then travel west to the sleepy hilltribe region of the Mai Chau Valley. Immerse yourself completely in the fascinating culture and experience health care in a disadvantaged area with limited or no access to health care.

Itinerary Day 1-2 Depart Australia - Arrive in Hanoi. Orientation and welcome dinner. Day 3-4 Enjoy sightseeing in Hanoi, visiting the orphanage and a day at Bach Mai hospital Day 5: Visit the Ho Chi MInh Quarter, and the Ethnology museum before travelling out to Mai Chau Day 6: Observe local doctors and nurses at Mai Chau hospital and ask questions about health care provision in the area
Itinerary Working Week Travel by foot and local transport to earmarked villages in the Mai Chau region. Observe and assist nurses in local clinics, run health education classes at schools and gain insight into health care and health problems in the area. Free time Immerse yourself in the local culture, explore each different village, enjoy delicious homecooked Vietnamese food, meet the locals, observe a new way of life. *Traditional Vietnamese cooking class *Trip to Halong Bay
