2015 ANNUAL REPORT Feeding Hope A NOTE FROM VICTOR ANOTHER GREAT YEAR THANKS TO YOU This year was another great year for us. Every year, we are continuously growing and making a bigger impact on our community. Here are some accomplishments which your support helps make possible. EPFH was recently designated a full Member of Feeding America, the nation s largest food charity. After three years of participating as a Partner Distribution Organization, we achieved this milestone status in only two and a half years time. Membership means access to more food from national sources, as well as additional opportunities for national grant support. We have been embarking on model pantries located directly in El Paso schools to tide El Paso schoolchildren over those difficult periods when they don t have access to regular school meals during weeknights and weekends. Last year we distributed over 9 million pounds of food, or 7.5 million meals, to our partner food pantries in the community. We have tried to emphasize healthy, nutritious food choices such as produce to augment our inventory. Again, private donors are helping. While these are positive milestones, the lines of hungry neighbors in our community are long and the need is great. We encourage you to continue your support, which is deeply appreciated and a boost to our confidence as we continue our important work. Sincerely, Dear Friends, Victor Nevarez Chief Executive Officer

2015 Annual Report Where the money goes EPFH is an exceptionally frugal organization, and we like to share that information with donors and the community. A full 90% of all income is spent on food distribution and transportation, while other necessary expenses such as salaries, building costs and others make up only 7.4% of the budget. Less than 3% of every dollar is spent on fundraising, and so we can reassure donors that their dollars go a long way toward meeting the needs of the hungry! Walmart Foundation Truck Dedication El Pasoans Fighting Hunger (EPFH) Food Bank will now reach more adults and children in need, thanks to a generous grant awarded through the Walmart Foundation. As a result of this grant, the Food Bank now has three vehicles to reach more clients and better distribute food to more families in need. The Walmart Foundation awarded a $100,000 grant. The Food Bank bought three vehicles. The larger 26 truck is refrigerated and can hold up to 12 pallets of food. It will be used to service a total of 120 mobile and school pantries, a 50% increment compared to last year. The 12 stake bed truck will be used to pick up non-perishable foods and nonfood items, and can hold 6 pallets of food. The SUV will be used to conduct home visits to the elderly and homebound disabled people. These three vehicles will now allow the Food Bank to serve approximately 6,000 additional families in need and help extend the number of service hours for pickups and deliveries. Challenge Grants Help Support School Pantries Thanks to the generosity of two generous foundations, EPFH may receive a boost for school pantry programs. The Paso del Norte Foundation will award EPFH $7,500, provided EPFH raises an additional $15,000. The Carl C. Anderson Sr. and Marie Jo Anderson Foundation will give EPFH $20,000 if we can raise $20,000 to match. This doubles your gift! EPFH school pantries are filling gaps for El Paso schoolchildren when they don t have access to school meals. So far, the pantries exist in 5 school locations and look to expand with support such as this. If you are interested in helping match one of these challenges, please indicate on your check and return it to the attention of Mark Hohnstreiter at the Food Bank. Please call him if you have any questions. Thank you, Mary Peyton Foundation EPFH is grateful to the Mary Peyton Foundation of El Paso which made gifts totaling $11,739.36 to help El Paso residents fighting hunger. EPFH clients face difficult challenges including having to choose between food and medicine or health care, and support such as this helps to bridge the gap.

Albertsons Foundation for Healthy Breakfast Food Hunger Is, is a joint charitable program of The Albertsons Companies Foundation and the Entertainment Industry Foundation. The Foundations contributed $50,000 to purchase healthy breakfast choices for El Paso children, including breakfast bars, granola, fruit cups, peanut butter, milk, oats, and cereals. In El Paso, 31.9% of El Paso children are food insecure numbering 76,490. Albertsons stores also helped out with the donation of 6 pallets of food during the holiday season. All Paws in- Chihuahuas and Whataburger Team Up for Food Drive El Paso Chihuahuas and Whataburger kicked off our summer with a Food Drive during their home stand beginning Thursday, May 19th through Sunday, May 22nd. Fans donated close to 400 pounds of food and gave over $1,400 in monetary donations. The generosity didn t stop there. Team players and staff, along with Whataburger employees, came together at the Food Bank and volunteered their time. Over 13,000 pounds of food was processed and let s note, it was game day! Burkitt Foundation Funds Purchase of Healthy Food Thanks to the generosity of the Burkitt Foundation, EPFH was able to purchase healthier, nutritious food to distribute to its partner agencies and on to its clients. The Foundation, an affiliate foundation of the El Paso Community Foundation, made two grants totaling $441,291 to EPFH in 2015. Part of these grants helped purchase 4,400 complete turkey dinners, which were especially appreciated by hungry families during the holidays. Burkitt commodities awaiting distribution included oatmeal, tuna and canned chicken, sweet peas, green beans, carrots, pears, watermelon, tomatoes, soups and beef stew. Lead Against Hunger Car Show And the results are in for the first indoor car show at the Food Bank. Lead Against Hunger collected 288 pounds of food and over $2,500 in cash donations!

Our mission: We combat the hunger crisis in our region by strategically procuring and distributing nutritious food through community partners because no one should go hungry. KTSM Newschannel 9 Sets the Bar In celebration of their 20th Anniversary, the KTSM Newschannel 9 launched their inaugural Nexstar Founder s Day of Caring in which employees spent time giving back to the community. This year, EPFH was the charity of choice. Station personalities, leaders, and production staff toured the Food Bank and processed over 28,000 pounds of food! KTSM is the first media group to volunteer at the Food Bank. Calling on all media! Come volunteer at your Food Bank! Save the Date! Hunger Doesn t Take a Summer Vacation The Hospitals of Providence led a community effort to provide children in our community who are struggling with hunger with a healthy breakfast during the summer. The Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive kicked off on June 3 and ran through June 10. Donation dropoff locations included the Memorial Campus, Sierra Campus, and the East Campus. With full support from the generous staff at each Campus and the incredible community, the Food Bank collected over 28,000 pounds of cereal and received over $8,000 in cash donations! GIVE EP El Paso s inaugural giving day, give EP, is a 24-hour charitable giving drive designed to ignite the spirit of giving across our region. This is a national all-online fundraising initiative built for nonprofits designed to bring attention to the work and worth of El Paso s nonprofit sector. Mark your Calendars!
