The RPD program provides a powerful opportunity for the state's most influential funders and local grantseekers to strengthen partnerships to better meet the needs of rural Colorado communities. It results in increased access to resources, relationships and skill building opportunities for important local projects. It is time to begin planning the September 2014 Southeast Rural Philanthropy Days conference, which serves Baca, Bent, Crowley, Huerfano, Kiowa, Las Animas, Otero and Prowers counties. To begin the process of bringing RPD to the region, the Community Resource Center and the Anschutz Family Foundation will host three outreach opportunities. Main St., Lamar Tuesday, July 16 2:30-4:30 p.m. Rocky Ford Chamber of Commerce (Gobin Building), 105 N. Main St., Rocky Ford Wednesday, July 17 9:30-11:30 a.m. Trinidad Mt. Funders, non-profits attend full-day workshop sessions Over 50 individuals spent a full day May 15 attending the Southeast Rural Philanthropy Days Leadership Team s final workshop session; Breaking the Ice: Philanthropy in Southeast Colorado. The event was held at Lamar Community College and brought attendees from throughout the region s eight counties. Co-sponsored by the Colorado Nonprofit Association, the Community Resource Center and Lamar Community College, the workshop gave participants a chance to attend a variety of sessions on marketing, evaluation, grant writing, grant reports, capital campaigns and budgeting. It also included a funders panel at lunch that allowed three foundation representatives to provide answers to some common questions nonprofits have. Serving on the panel were Joe Kost from USDA Rural Development, Noah Atencio from the Daniels Fund and Matt Carpenter from the El Pomar Foundation. A keynote speech was given in the morning by Renny Fagan of CNA and a closing session was facilitated by Crissy Supples of CRC and Southeast Leadership Team Chair Dee Quick (Otero County). 3
