Greater Gallatin United Way F E A T U R E D M E M B E R The Greater Gallatin United Way (GGUW) Community Investment process is underway. Community volunteers and board members are reviewing grant applications and attending presentations, while certified public accountants evaluate the financials of each applicant. Through a stringent process, these volunteers along with the GGUW Board of Directors decide how to invest the dollars raised through the annual campaign. These dollars known as the Community Investment Fund make up 50% of GGUW s annual revenues; private and state grant awards make up the other 50%. A restricted grant covers nearly all operating expenses, which means 99 cents of every dollar donated is invested into over 60 local programs and initiatives. These programs and initiatives are essential to improving lives today and building a better tomorrow for Gallatin, Madison, Meagher, and Park counties. As your United Way, they listen, assess, prioritize, convene, lead, collaborate, and garner community resources to effectively address human service needs of our region. Thank you for your support TOGETHER, WE CAN! For more information, visit www.greatergallatinunitedway.org or call 406-587-2194. To be featured in a future newsletter, call the Chamber at 388-1616. Executive Message Can you believe how fast the East Belgrade Interchange is taking shape? The interchange is going to open a whole new corridor of commercial property for Belgrade. It will also make it a lot easier and safer for those residents who live in the subdivisions south of I-90 to connect to Belgrade. We have put together a task force that will be helping to make sure the entrance into Belgrade from the airport is inviting! They will be working on landscaping and directional signage. We want to make sure that visitors get a great first impression when they come into Belgrade. In other exciting news, the Belgrade Chamber has entered into an agreement with Yellowstone Country Montana, Inc., and the Bozeman Chamber to have a travel counselor at an information desk at the airport during peak times. This travel counselor will answer questions and give directions to tourists flying into the airport this summer. The regional appeal is what attracts visitors to this area, and they have lots of questions when they arrive. Right now we will fund it for the summer but hope to someday fund it in the winter, too. It is going to be a great summer! Debra K.
