The intermediate objectives will include (i) development of a complete organizational framework for the national EITI committee, its sub-committees and the supporting Secretariat, and (ii) the development of a comprehensive outreach and communication campaign which meets the needs of government as well as outreach to civil society stakeholders in Dakar, regional centers, and local communities which are directly impacted by oil, gas and mining operations. upgrading of Senegal's credit rating in early 2014. The MSG is functioning well with a frequency of meeting at least every two months. Reporting is systematic through the dedicated website, www.itie.sn which contains comprehensive and up-dated information. The preparation of the first two EITI reports is on track with first expected report due on June 30. Outreach and awareness-raising exceed expectations with comprehensive outreach events in local areas which are most affected by mine operations (Kedougou, Thies and Matam). At national level, two multi-day training events have targeted national media and journalists. Other events have benefited MSG members and stakeholders at large. Moreover, it is noteworthy that two networks have been created of parliamentarians, on one hand, and local elected officials, on the other. Senegal has quickly become an active participant in the regional EITI network. Committee representatives have attended seminars in Abidjan, Ouagadougou and Brazzaville. An exchange visit with Mauritania took place in March 2014. Moreover, Senegal hosted in June 2014 a regional conference of civil society organizations involved in EITI. Other EITI resource persons and Board members have also been invited to attend national workshops. The EITI Secretariat has managed to diversify its sources of funding. The following development partners contributed to financing of EITI activities in 2014: CIDA, OSIWA, the African Development Bank, the Embassy of the United Kingdom, Oxfam, the European Union, the Government of Senegal, and the World Bank. 6/18/2015 Page 2 of 6
