Initiate and manage an effective programme to raise funds from Trusts, Foundations and other non-statutory grant making bodies 2. Act as the liaison between Children with Cancer UK s Philanthropy team and its research projects, working closely with the Research Grants Manager 3. Support Children with Cancer UK s Philanthropy Programme, in particular major donor engagement, developing appropriate cultivation and other events, including management of guest lists and invitations etc. 4. Liaise with Children with Cancer UK s Special Events team, Partnerships team and other fundraising teams to ensure effective and appropriate contact with individual supporters and prospects. Background Information Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. Our aims are to determine causes, find cures, improve treatments and provide care for children with cancer. We promote and fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer. About the Role We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual who has the skills and approach to become an integral part of a new strategy to very significantly increase Children with Cancer UK s fundraising income, particularly from major individual donors and Trusts/Foundations. The successful post-holder will have detail-oriented research skills, an excellent and adaptive approach to building relationships, good team working skills, high quality writing skills, and a meticulous approach to planning. The role of Philanthropy Manager Since 1988, Children with Cancer UK has raised over 220 million, 125 million in the last 10 years, to support research into the causes and treatment of childhood cancers, and to provide better facilities for caring for children and their families. Its 30 th anniversary will see an ambitious step change in its fundraising, to significantly increase its investment in new research and forms of care. In order to achieve this, Children with Cancer UK will develop and launch new initiatives to attract greater support from charitable trusts and foundations and major individual donors. The new post of Philanthropy Manager will play a central role in these initiatives. Our ideal candidate will be intelligent, flexible, dynamic and ambitious and focused on results. Key Duties and Responsibilities Fundraising Management and Implementation: 70% To develop and manage the Trust and Foundations fundraising programme for Children with Cancer UK, including: o prospect identification and prioritisation pipeline development o writing and submitting compelling funding applications general and projectfocused o monitoring outcomes, follow-up and reporting o cultivation and long-term relationship development To set and deliver ambitious and realistic financial targets for this sector To contribute to and support the development of a robust ongoing Case for Support, as well as building a library of case studies To assist at fundraising / other events, including organising project visits for funders Responsible for recording / maintaining records on the in-house database, Raiser s Edge, ensuring that donor development and management is recorded accurately To ensure that all donor administration is undertaken promptly and properly. Philanthropy Programme support: 30% Work closely with and support Children with Cancer UK s new individual Major Donor programme, with involvement in all facets of this programme Develop appropriate cultivation and stewardship events, including management of guest lists and invitations etc., working closely with other Children with Cancer UK teams, in particular Corporate Partnerships and Special Events, liaising with them to ensure effective and appropriate contact with individual supporters and prospects.
