COMMANDANT S MESSAGE Orlando Garza, Commandant HONOR COURAGE COMMITMENT Marines and Associates, I hope everyone is enjoying this Spring which almost feels like summer. Make sure to protect your selves by using sun screen. May 26 represents Memorial Day, a day that should never be forgotten, it is the one true celebration of our nation s military heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to preserve our freedom. And we also honor those who served and those who are serving. Our brothers and sisters in uniform have gone in harm s way to protect us and our way of life. I Also believe that it is a day to honor spouses, mothers, fathers, children and families who were in support of their loved one who has served. As for Marines we speak of God, Corps and Country but we always fall short by not saying what s next on the list and that is Family. So while some of you who are enjoying a day off from work because of a national holiday please take the time and reflect what freedom means to you. Thank our active duty service men and women, thank a veteran and keep those still serving in harm s way in your thoughts and prayers. Felix Condé is hosting a Veterans Appreciation Day ceremony and dinner and would like to invite all of our members and their families to the ceremony. It starts at 1600 and is going to be held at the St. Joan of Arc Hall, 2829 Ackerman Rd., Kirby, TX 78219. One of the coveted awards that are given is the Semper Fidelis Medal, John states that the medal is one of the cadet s favorite because they like wearing the Marine Corps Emblem medal around their necks. This is a direct reflection of pride and motivation that these young cadets see and may inspire to attain one day. Plus John Rodriguez likes to give the recipients a Gold Presidential Dollar.
