Chorus: GMS Honor Choir will have 2 additional rehearsals next week on Monday at 7:20 a.m. and Wednesday at 7:20 a.m. All students and parents should read the email from Ms. Jones to know exactly who comes on which day. The GMS Fine Arts Christmas Assembly will be held Friday, December 11, in the GYM at 2:00 p.m. All band, chorus, orchestra and dance students will be participating in this wonderful "gift" of music to our faculty, staff and students. Parents are certainly welcome to enjoy all of the festivities also! Congratulations to Sammie Browning and Madison Berry on their selection to the 2016 Regional ACDA Southern Division Honor Choir for Middle School! They were chosen by audition from 11 south eastern states. They will represent our state, the Gilbert Community and GMS in Chattanooga, Tennessee March 9-11, 2016! Band News: GMS Band shirts and sweatshirts have arrived. Please make sure they are paid for and picked up as soon as possible. - The GMS Winter Band Concert will be 6:30 p.m., December 8 at the Lexington One Performing Arts Center located on the campus of Lexington High School. Students should arrive dressed in their concert black attire (black band polo, black pants, and black socks/shoes) no later than 6pm. - Region Band auditions will be January 9 at Brewer Middle School in Greenwood, SC. Registered students will receive an audition packet with audition times in December. Orchestra News: The Orchestra and Guitar Winter Concert will be Thursday December 10 at 7p.m. in the GMS Little Theatre. This concert will feature winter themed selections from the classical genre as well as a few guitar pop cover song project presentations. Santa Hats and Ugly Sweaters are Optional. Lost and Found: Lost and found is located in room 512. With the weather getting colder, many coats, jackets and hoodies accumulate. Some items currently in the lost and found are shoes, lunch boxes, gym clothes and water bottles. If your student is missing any of these items, have them stop by room 512. Archery Team: Archery Try-Outs will be Monday, December 7 and Wednesday, December 9 at 3:30 p.m. 5:30 p.m. in the GMS Cafeteria. You must have a signed permission slip to participate. Jostens Spirit Rings: Rings will be delivered On December 9 during 7th grade lunch. Miss GMS 2016: December 11 is the Deadline for all Miss GMS paperwork! Great Happenings at GMS: Twenty Seven students from Mr. Stamey's 8th grade ELA classes were accepted to be published in the Creative Communication's Anthology. Their Personal Narrative Essays were of high merit and will be included in this year's essay book.
