SCIEX Academic Partnership Program 2018 Rules and Application Introduction SCIEX manufactures analytical tools, including instruments for research in the life science and clinical research communities, and is providing partnership discounts to support research at universities, colleges, and related institutions that employ Liquid Chromatography (LC), Capillary Electrophoresis (CE or CESI) and Mass Spectrometry (mass spec or MS) for research in the life sciences. The SCIEX Academic Partnership Program has been established to provide discounts that can be used towards the purchase of select SCIEX MS, CESI-MS, LC-MS, or CE Systems intended for use in one of the three major Omics research fields: Proteomics, Metabolomics, Lipidomics; or other applicable academic research. These partnership discounts do not cover facilities, administrative, overhead or other indirect costs. Application Process Applicants must complete an Academic Partnership Application Form and submit it, along with a CV/resumé by email to MSGrants@sciex.com. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that the proposal meets all university or other institutional and administrative criteria for approval. Applications received prior to one of four annual deadlines (currently scheduled for January 30, 2018, March 15, 2018, June 30, 2018, and September 15, 2018) will be reviewed within thirty days (the review period ) of each deadline. Approved partners will be notified of a decision within two weeks of the close of each review period. Only one proposal per applicant will be considered in any review period. Applications will be reviewed by our Academic Partnership Committee, consisting of SCIEX professionals with expertise in the applicable area of research. Approved discount amounts will vary depending on the proposal and instrumentation required to address the research proposed. An initial reply from SCIEX acknowledging receipt of an application and, if necessary, requesting additional information, will be sent within 10 working days after receipt of your application. Each proposal will be scored within the review period, and a written response will be provided by email to all applicants within 30-45 days of the decision deadline. In accepting any partnership discount, the applicant s institution must agree not to charge facilities, personnel, administrative, overhead or other indirect costs against the discount amount. This is a discount off the retail price of an instrument. Partnership discounts must be used within 180 days of being issued, and are only for use in transactions that include a SCIEX mass spectrometer, CE or CESI. Any partnership discount or portion thereof not exercised by the expiration date will be withdrawn; however, requests for extensions of individual expiration dates will be handled on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility and Description of Partnership Discounts The program is open to universities, colleges, and affiliated research facilities in North America, Central America, and South America where academic research is being conducted under the guidance of tenure-track or equivalent, principal investigators who have been conducting academic research, except where prohibited by law. Third party consultants, as well as employees of SCIEX, SCIEX Academic Partnership Program 2018 RUO-MKT-20-5008-B Page 1 of 6
or any other Danaher operating company, and their family members are ineligible. Partnership discounts will be assigned to the degree-granting institutions or a collaborating partner s institution where the applicant is employed rather than to the individual scientist/applicant. No restrictions are put on the configuration of the requested system, but should generally conform to a SCIEX mass spectrometer, an Exion or SCIEX LC, or CESI-MS system, and associated application-specific software and data system. Stand-alone MS and CE systems are also appropriate configurations. The Academic Partnership Discount consists of a monetary discount off a complete MS, LC-MS, CESI-MS, or CE instrumentation package. As such, the monetary value of these partnerships will vary. Partnership distribution is entirely at the discretion of the committee and SCIEX, and there is no minimum or maximum number of awards to be distributed in any single review period, or over the life of the program. Four Academic Partnership Discount levels are applied as follows: Diamond level partnerships of $100,000 or more are reserved for packages that include new 6500, 6500+, TripleTOF 6600, or Lipidyzer systems (including a separation device). Platinum level partnerships of $50,000 are for any new LC-MS or CESI-MS system, including all Diamond level packages. Gold level partnerships of $25,000 are for any new LC-MS, CESI-MS, or standalone MS system. Silver CE level partnerships of $10,000 are for any new standalone CE system or CESI system installed on a SCIEX mass spectrometer. Research carried out in the development and deployment of clinical diagnostic assays falls outside the scope of this program and are not eligible for the Academic Partnership Discounts. Refurbished and service-certified systems are not covered as part of this program. In addition, trade-in of used equipment toward purchase will not be allowed in combination with an Academic Partnership discount. Conditions and Program Termination Acceptance and use of an Academic Partnership constitutes consent from the recipient to use their name, photograph, and institution name where permitted in subsequent marketing materials related to the program. Award recipients may be honored and promoted on our Academic Partnership webpage with a small photo, brief research description, Partnership level, and link to a related website of their choice. Recipients may also be asked to participate in various SCIEX marketing activities, such as coauthoring application notes, journal articles, or speaking on behalf of SCIEX at conferences; however participation in any of these activities is strictly voluntary and is not a condition of applying for or accepting an Academic Partnership. SCIEX reserves the right to modify or terminate this program for any reason, at any time and without any prior notification, and reserves the right to withhold Academic Partnerships without explanation. SCIEX Academic Partnership Program Application Form Introduction SCIEX is providing partnership discounts to support Omics and other academic research programs utilizing or wishing to utilize MS, LC-MS, CESI-MS, or CE technology. It is our intention to encourage new investigators and breakthrough research in areas that may be of interest to SCIEX as well as the research community at large. Academic Partnership discounts will be assigned to the degree-granting institution where the applicant is employed (rather than to the individual) and may be used to reduce the acquisition price of these systems. Academic Partnership discounts may be applied to the quoted academic price of the SCIEX instruments to be purchased. Instructions Please complete each of the text boxes on the attached form.
