Casa Peralta Improvements Public Outreach Meeting (Attached) Tues., May 3 rd, 7:00 PM 8:30 PM, Auditorium, San Leandro History Museum & Art Gallery, 320 West Estudillo Ave. The Engineering and Transportation Department is hosting an informational meeting to gather public input on planned improvements to Casa Peralta. The plan will identify ways to expand use of the property for public and private events, improve the house museum and its exhibits, and make the property more attractive and accessible for daily visitors. Council Information Public Works Quarterly Status Report (Attached) The Department of Public Works received a total of 7,392 requests for service and an average of 164 requests per working day during the first quarter of 2016. Improvements include the installation of a new flag pole at the Water Pollution Control Plant, a new dance floor at the Marina Community Center, and the City Hall access key upgrade is 75% complete. A meeting of the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. in the Helen Lawrence South Offices Conference Room. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION At its meeting on February 7, 2011, the City Council approved the formation of a Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) to continuously guide the development and implementation of bicycle and pedestrian facilities in the City. The BPAC s consistent and systematic reviewing process ensures that bicycle and pedestrian issues are addressed and options developed in a timely fashion for network expansion. The BPAC allows us to meet successfully the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and the Alameda County Transportation Commission (ACTC) requirements that the public be offered the opportunity to comment on how Transportation Development Act funds from MTC and Measure B and BB Bicycle and Pedestrian funds from ACTC are allocated. The BPAC is comprised of eleven (11) members, with one member representing each of the Council Districts, plus five (5) at-large members. The selected members represent both bicyclist and pedestrian concerns and are approved by Council. The BPAC meets on an as-needed basis once or twice a year. Currently there are four vacancies on the Committee that need to be filled. The following residents are our current BPAC members:

The focus of this meeting will include: 1) status report on projects from the Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan; 2) San Leandro Creek Trail Master Plan; 3) General Plan and Complete Street Policy Update; 4) review of upcoming street improvement projects; 5) Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Update; and 6) Transportation Development ACT (TDA) project review.

Lei, Associate Engineer Engineering and Transportation Department PUBLIC OUTREACH MEETING CASA PERALTA IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT SUMMARY AND RECOMMENDATION This memo is regarding a public outreach meeting scheduled from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at the San Leandro History Museum & Art Gallery for the development of a conceptual plan for the Casa Peralta Improvements Project. This is for information only and no action is required. BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION Casa Peralta was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on November 24, 1981 and has a rich and colorful history since it was constructed in 1901. The property operates as a historic house museum and is made available for special events, school field trips, and docent-led tours on limited weekend hours. The caretaker s apartment is currently used as the office for the San Leandro Improvement Association (SLIA). A project is underway to develop a conceptual improvement plan for Casa Peralta. Architectural Resources Group of San Francisco was selected as the historic architecture firm to assist the City in developing a concept to make Casa Peralta more historically accurate, aesthetically pleasing, accessible, and possibly a source of future revenue for the City. Other improvements to be identified on the conceptual plan will include basic repairs of the building and grounds to keep Casa Peralta viable. The conceptual improvement plan will be developed based on ideas and goals from City staff and also input from the public and organizations linked to Casa Peralta. A public outreach meeting is scheduled from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Tuesday, May 3 rd, in the auditorium of the San Leandro History Museum & Art Gallery adjacent to Casa Peralta. The purpose of the meeting is to provide information on the project and also to gauge public support for various ideas for improvements. The attached meeting notification flyer will be distributed via social media (e.g. Facebook, Nextdoor). Various organizations will be contacted directly by City staff regarding the meeting,
including: volunteer docents for Casa Peralta; homeowner associations; the Chamber of Commerce; the San Leandro Arts Commission; SLIA and; the San Leandro Historical Society.
