Programme Value Proposition and Incubation Model

Value Proposition: Creating green growth Why investment in the Green Economy is imperative for the growth of our economy? With an anticipated target of 300,000 new jobs created through the green economy in South Africa alone by 2020, it s evident that the green economy is set to grow dramatically. Why a focus on youth? Employment in traditional corporate structures which were the main source of job employment is rapidly declining. This trend will continue as a result of disruption, technological innovation and a move towards leaner organisational structures. With youth unemployment rates having topped 75% according to the recent Stats SA report published in April 2016, there needs to be a concerted effort towards the development of new businesses and SMME s to help counter the current unemployment challenge. Sustainable business is critical to ensure the world s resources are shared fairly and ethically so that our communities can look to the future with confidence. The Green Biz programme finds, grows and promotes entrepreneurship among young people to create and convert start up ideas into great environmentally sustainable businesses. Green BizCrea8 attracts and activates next generation green start ups across sectors and at a broader level advocates and promotes a green business ethos amongst aspirant youth entrepreneurs. Green Biz Objectives Active brand campaigning and promotion of green entrepreneurship amongst youth igniting untapped entrepreneurial potential Developing a pipeline of youth start-ups to feed into the eco-system It is with this in mind that Green Biz seeks to unlock the untapped potential of youth entrepreneurs in South Africa through our world class but bespoke green start-up activation programmes. Developing sustainable and innovative green business models Activating & guiding new start- ups What makes us different? Our inclusive approach gives everyone a fair chance to unlock their entrepreneurial capabilities, using a world class, innovative approach conducive to self-paced development Our youth entrepreneurs aspire to develop their businesses in line with South African best practice We are actively strengthening the eco-system of entrepreneurship with a focus on pipeline development of start-ups ready for business acceleration into partner Incubators or collaboration partners Our programme is based on the pivot and plan approach to entrepreneur development, based on an ethos of agility and flexibility to help them continuously pivot their business for ever-changing contexts Our Bespoke Pivot & Plan Model ide8 Key Sponsors & Strategic Partners

Bespoke Start-Up Acceleration Incubation Model The model is designed to maximise the opportunity for entrepreneurs who are committed to the process while minimising the early stage investment so as to focus investment on entrepreneurs and business models that have been tested and are most likely to generate real growth and positive environmental impacts. Programme marketing through social media, partners and exhibitions Applications Initial Screening based on entry criteria Screening based on green business concept Ide8 3 Day Ideation Workshop to develop green business concept 3 months Action Based Coaching to refine and test green business concept Graduation with a registered Green Business 9 Month GrowthWheel based coaching and mentorship Screening for business acceleration

Advancing Creative Entrepreneurship The bespoke three stage pivot and plan approach of Biz is specifically designed to re-infuse creativity into the entrepreneurial mindset through which identified problems can then be addressed using creative solutions. The solution is then developed into a marketable concept through continual market validation and the development of a business model that could then deliver the solution to the market. The business is then activated, with a focus on driving sales to develop market traction and position the business for investment.
