Dean of Students Scholarships Students must submit a paragraph that addresses their qualifications for each scholarship they are applying for and explains how they meet the criteria for each scholarship. Students must make all submissions on a separate document, double-spaced in 12pt Times New Roman font, and limited to 200 words or less per scholarship. American Indian Scholarship - One scholarship worth $1000.00 will be awarded. Student must be a full-time undergraduate student of Native American ethnicity at UW-Superior in junior/senior standing. Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of a 2.5 and be a continuing student. Students must submit an essay on how to help Native American people; including the following: Student must explain how their education will benefit Native people. Student must have shown commitment to being actively involved in on-campus Native events. Student must have shown committed membership to Circle of Native Nations. Student must show proof of financial need. Optimist Club Scholarship - One scholarship worth $1000.00 will be awarded. Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be a continuing student. Student must have been involved in on-campus/off-campus organizations (i.e. athletics, student organization, community service). Student must have set a positive example for youth/peers. Student must have shown commitment to the service of youth/peers in community activities participated in. Student must describe what they have learned through their service to youth/peers. Oluf Haugsrud Scholarship Six to Eight scholarships worth a minimum of $500.00 will be awarded. Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and be a continuing student. Student must have participated in significant community service projects. Student must have demonstrated outstanding leadership. Student must describe what they have learned through their leadership experiences and projects. Joe Long Scholarship - One scholarship worth $600.00 will be awarded. Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.25 and be a continuing student. Student must have been a member of a student organization at UW-Superior. Student must have demonstrated outstanding leadership. Student must describe what they have learned through their leadership experiences and involvement in student organizations. Student must show proof of financial need. (U.S. students provide a copy of the most recent Financial Aid Award letter or a copy of the Financial Aid Award Summary from E-hive. International Students provide a letter from the International Office.) Lloyd Williams Memorial Scholarship One scholarships worth $300.00 will be awarded to a residence hall student. Student must be a current residence hall student and a full-time student. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and be a continuing student. Student must be living in the residence halls for the entire academic year that the scholarship is disbursed. Student must describe what activities they have participated in as a member of the residence hall community. Student must describe what their educational and career goals are, and how this scholarship will help them to achieve these goals. **RHA and Residence Life staff members are not eligible for this scholarship.
William & Olga Munnings Scholarship - One scholarship worth $350.00 will be awarded to a nontraditional student. Student must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and be a continuing student. Student must be at least 25 years of age or older and working on their first undergraduate degree. Student must have demonstrated dedication to their education and importance of education to them. Student must show involvement in Campus Life at UW-Superior and what they have learned from their experience. Student must demonstrate how they have set a positive example for youth/peers. Lambda Sigma Lambda/Sigma Sigma Sigma Scholarship Two scholarships worth a minimum of $500.00 will be awarded to one junior and one senior who are female. Student must be an undergraduate female student at UW-Superior in junior/senior standing. Student must have a minimum GPA of a 2.5 and be a continuing student. Student must be active in campus life and show commitment to enhancing campus life at UW- Superior. Student must explain what they have learned from being involved in campus life at UW-Superior. **Preference is given to applicants who are legacies of Lambda Sigma Lambda/Sigma Sigma Sigma Sororities. **The junior who receives the award for the prior academic year is eligible for the scholarship her senior year if she fulfills the above requirements. Maureen Roin Scholarship One scholarship worth $400.00 will be awarded. Student must be an undergraduate at UW-Superior. Student must have a minimum GPA of a 2.5 and be a continuing student. Student must have come from a socially difficult background. Student must show proof of financial need. (U.S. students provide a copy of the most recent Financial Aid Award letter or a copy of the Financial Aid Award Summary from Ehive. International Students provide a letter from the International Office.) Peggy Metzer Scholarship One scholarship worth $1500.00 will be awarded to one junior/senior female, who are the first to attend college in their family. Student must be an undergraduate female student at UW-Superior in junior/senior standing. Student must have a minimum GPA of a 2.5 and be a continuing student. Student must be a female who is the first in their family to attend college. Student must describe what they have learned through their leadership experiences and projects. Student must have demonstrated dedication to their education and importance of education to them. Veteran Scholarships: Gerald Christensen Scholarship One scholarship worth $400.00 will be awarded. Thomas Jorgenson Scholarship One scholarship worth $400.00 will be awarded. Joseph H. Moline Scholarship Two scholarships worth $500.00 will be awarded. Stone Memorial Scholarship One scholarship worth $400.00 will be awarded. Andy Borg Scholarship One scholarship worth $200.00 will be awarded to a veteran only. VFW Scholarship One scholarship worth $700.00 will be awarded. Student must be a veteran or a son/daughter or **a grandson/granddaughter of a veteran (VFW scholarship only) Student must demonstrate their dedication to their education and its importance to them. Student must show their involvement in their community or campus life at UW-Superior. Student must explain their connection to military service and what it has meant to them. Student must provide verification of their service or their parent/grandparent s service in the military.
