We are excited to announce that the National Chair for DAR Service for Veterans Suzanne Earing managed to squeeze in time to visit Oklahoma Daughters with her arrival mid-afternoon Thursday during conference. She ll be present for our Thursday evening banquet and part of Friday with her departure late afternoon Friday. Her picture and bio are on page 2. February 5-7, 2015 National Board of Management Meeting in Washington, D. C. Many of you enjoyed meeting and talking with Denise VanBuren last August during the OSDAR Workshop. Most marveled at how she could be a Vice-president of a large company in New York professionally; sits on numerous boards; edit the award-winning DAR American Spirit Magazine, and manage the Organizing Secretary General s Office at NSDAR. She shared how she manages jugging so many roles during a leadership seminar entitled Organize and Prioritize to Maximize. It contained simple tips to help better manage time and improve productivity. Two books she recommended for reading: Getting Things Done by David Allen and Tipping Points by Malcolm Gladwell. Additionally, she shared some of her calendar pages and five apps she uses to organize her life. She utilizes these to get her projects completed in a timely manner; and time for her family life. They are: Astrid Pre-set to do lists Remember the Milk Reminders Toodledo How to organize a group to do list Wunderlist May be the best group task management app and allows a person to trace across a project; great for project management Doodle A scheduler and powerful to keeping on top of your to do list; allows person to feel empowered to customize the app for managing Denise VanBuren
NSDAR Library Wish List The DAR Library generates a list of books they desire and place it online at http:// ww.dar.org/giving. Last year, OK Daughters donated and graciously granted the NSDAR Library Wish List twice. Bridget Wiggins, DAR Library Acquisition Office ordered six books relating to Oklahoma history. Recently, she placed six titles on the Oklahoma list of books that may be designated as donations. This is a wonderful tradition to donate a book in honor of some member who goes the extra mile or in memory of a member. If you are aware of any historical or genealogical societies in Oklahoma that have recent publications that DAR Library does not own, you may send an e-mail to Bridget Wiggins or check the DAR Library s online catalog to determine if the book is already a part of the library. If the book is not a part of the collection and it fits the collecting criteria, a prospective donor may submit a Library Gift approval and Donation Form to the Library Office for review. If the submission is given approval, the book may be sent in as a donation. The site for the form is: http://www.dar.org/members/forms-publication.
