Umass Memorial Medical Center 2000-2001 Physician Assistant in Cardiothoracic Surgery Administrative Duties included: Interviewing prospective candidates Implementing objectives of the wound infection prevention group. Intraoperative duties consisted of second assisting and endoscopic vessel harvesting. Baystate Medical Center 2001-2006 Staff Physician Assistant in Cardiac Surgery Clinical Duties included: First and second assisting in Cardiac Surgery while working for a Private Practice CTS group in an academic medical center. Radial Artery harvesting and saphenous vein harvesting with minimally invasive techniques. Placement of triple lumen catheters. Placement of chest tubes and precepting emergency medicine residents in chest tube placement techniques. Placement of radial and femoral arterial lines. Placement of Swan Ganz catheters. Placement of Intra aortic balloon pumps. Emergency Bedside Thoracotomy- one of four PAs in the hospital credentialed to perform emergency resternotomy with assistance by surgical chief when the attending was not in house. Coordinating care of Cardiac ICU patients and implementing care plans. Coordinating care plans of consultants. Discharging telemetry patients and removing chest tubes and pacing wires. Administrative duties included: Scheduling Meeting with representatives from cardiology and pharmacy to determine policy surrounding the usage of drugs in the perioperative setting (i.e., toradol & amiodarone) Review and addition of order sets to cis Construction of progress note and discharge summary templates to maximize time and to ensure consistency in charting Designing and implementing tools to ensure efficiency and ease of communication between nursing and midlevel providers Designing and implementing tools to aid in the identification of patients on morbidity and mortality rounds and producing PowerPoint topics for Cardiac Surgery monthly conferences. Baystate Medical Center 2003-2006 Moonlighter-Physician Assistant in Emergency Medicine Worked in a Level One Trauma center with an annual patient volume of 114,000 visits at peak. Clinical duties consisted of caring for patients in the general and main treatment areas. Additional duties consist of caring for trauma and cardiac patients and admitting patients with various conditions. I Worked overnights, while employed on CTS service. I managed a variety of patients including obstetrical patients, pediatrics, and provided patient care and performed procedures including suturing, splinting/casting, reduction of dislocated joints (with physician supervision), interpretation of radiographs and labs, and prescription of drugs (including level 2 narcotics).

UMass Memorial Healthcare 2006-2011 Surgical ICU/ Trauma service Management of Acute trauma patients, SICU patients, neurocritical, vascular and transplant surgery patients. Coordination of Line simulation training workshop using ultrasonography and medical simulations Lecturer in SICU and PA residency didactic curriculum. Management of admissions from the Emergency Department, and caring for critically ill patients to facilitate rapid transfer to an ICU environment. Program Director, Physician Assistant Residency in Critical Care 2007-2011 Administrative duties included budgetary administration, recruiting, advertising, project management, and coordination/orientation of PA residents while on rotation. Oversight of PA residency workgroup consisting of the Medical Director, Critical Care program manager, three staff PA clinical coordinators, and an administrative assistant, as well as budgetary resources exceeding $500,000. Acting Manager, NP/PA Critical Care workgroup 2008-2010 Administrative duties include hiring/selection of Affiliate Practitioners, oversight of 54 NPs and PAs. Interface with Medical Staff Office, Billing Compliance, and Oversight of $2.9 Million in resources while developing critical care billings to equal$2.2 Million. Created schedule synchronization in 6 different workgroups, which minimized moonlighting. Standardized Scheduling in 6 different workgroups to maximize patient staffing ratios and quality of care. Moonlighter in Cardiothoracic Surgery Similar duties as above at Baystate Medical. St Francis Hospital, Hartford CT 2010-12 Surgical Physician Assistant Clinical Duties consist of caring for patients in a face paced trauma ICU. Procedural duties include placement of percutaneous feeding tubes, tracheostomies, chest tubes and central lines. Administrative contributions include development and authoring of the Licox placement and usage clinical guideline. St. Vincent s Hospital, Worcester MA 2012-Present Surgical ICU Physician Assistant Clinical duties consist of caring for patients in a mixed surgical ICU, mainly vascular, thoracic, and general surgical patients. Procedural duties include placement of chest tubes, central lines, arterial lines, and dialysis access. Administrative duties include responsibilities for Rapid Responses, RRT data collection, and serving on the Lead Midlevel Committee, as well as chairing the APP section for Tenet Healthcare s National Critical Care Committee, chaired by David Kaufman, MD, FCCM (Sr. Vice President).
