International Student Pathways to Completion of a Murdoch University Bachelor of Nursing Degree

As a Murdoch University Bachelor of Nursing graduate you are eligible to apply to the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (NMBA) for registration Murdoch University has a pathway to suit your needs. 1. One year pathway for registered nurses with experience in their own country Eligibility for Pathway 1 requires a three year post-secondary qualification (equivalent as a minimum to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 Diploma) leading to registration and practice as a registered nurse (or equivalent), in the country where the program was completed and one year of full-time clinical experience as a registered nurse (or equivalent) in an acute care health service or acute care nursing in the last three years. 2. Two year pathway for those with nursing qualifications who require an in-depth two year program. At the completion of the program students may be eligible to apply for the Australian Post Study Work Rights Visa Eligibility for Pathway 2 requires a three year post-secondary qualification (or equivalent as a minimum to an Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level 6 Diploma) leading to registration and practice as a registered nurse (or equivalent), in the country where the program was completed. 3. Individually tailored pathways dependent on your current level of qualification and experience English requirements Either English as your primary language and have attended and satisfactorily completed at least six years of primary and secondary education taught and assessed in English in a recognised country, including at least two years between years 7 and 12. Recognised countries include, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, United Kingdom and United States of America. OR Demonstrated English competence via IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.5 in each of the four components (listening, reading, writing and speaking) or an equivalent score in either the TOEFL ibt, PTE Academic or the OET English language tests. Graduates from the Murdoch University Bachelor of Nursing are eligible to apply to the Nurses and Midwives Board of Australia (NMBA) for registration in the category of Registered Nurse. At point of application, graduates will need to provide proof of having met an IELTS (or equivalent test) score of at least 7 in each band, if their primary or secondary education took place in a country where English is not the native language. Results from tests completed more than two (2) years prior to application for registration will not be accepted. For further information, students can go to nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au

Accommodation Student Village With the student experience as a core focus, Murdoch University Village has an exciting student life program designed to help residents meet new people, achieve academically and develop essential life skills. Events may include BBQs, themed parties, essay writing workshops, sports competitions, senior student support and more. The Village offers 24-hour staff presence, with resident staff members living on-site, and night-time security patrols. There are a team of Resident Assistants responsible for organising events, assisting new students with their transition into communal living, and ensuring adherence to Village rules. Staff also provide support to residents experiencing personal or study problems. Murdoch University Village offers a range of new and recently refurbished facilities including: Swimming pool Four large laundries Recreation room with a pool table, table tennis, projection screen and a communal kitchen Computer library with internet connectivity TV room with Satellite TV Group study rooms Beach volleyball and basketball courts The Village also caters to students with disabilities, providing adapted apartments with modified bedrooms and bathrooms. Most residents are undergraduates in their first or second year of study and it is our policy to house residents from different social and cultural backgrounds together. However, flat mate requests can be accommodated by the Village, subject to availability. Rates The fees for 2018 range from $135 weekly for a twin share bedroom to $395 weekly for a one bedroom apartment per semester. After spending a semester or two living on campus, some students choose to move into off-campus accommodation with the friends they have met, and potential housemates are easy to find. There are many rentals and share houses around, and with our close proximity to the Mandurah train line, you really aren t restricted in terms of location. The median weekly rent in metropolitan Perth is $395*. *REIWA 2016 If you want to be in the centre of all the on-campus action, you can t go past life in the Murdoch University Village. Located on campus, your classes are right out your front door. The village has stylish, fully-furnished one, two, and five bedroom apartments available for rent, with options to suit almost any budget.

This figure does not include tuition fees, the cost of running a vehicle, textbook costs, or holiday travel costs and will vary according to individual students lifestyles. Each student s budget is different and will be based upon financial capacity, individual needs and preferences. PERTH Australia Students should ensure they arrive in Perth with easy access to approximately AU$500 to pay for miscellaneous expenses associated with establishing themselves. For a listing of Murdoch University s Agents visit murdoch.edu.au/ Apply-via-an-agent/ If there are no agents available in your home country, or if you are already studying in Australia, you can apply online at myadmission.murdoch.edu.au There are formal deadlines for undergraduate applications for Nursing, so please be aware that you will need to allow time to process your student visa and make all of the other necessary arrangements prior to coming to Perth to commence your studies. Therefore, it is recommended that applications be made at least two to three months prior to any given intake. It is important that you attach copies of all your qualifications and transcripts of results to enable the University to properly assess your application. Step 3 Receive an offer or other outcome Successful applicants will receive an Offer of Admission via email which will give advice on course start dates, course fees and date of payment for the semester tuition fees. Unsuccessful applicants will be informed via email. Step 4 Accept your offer To accept your place at Murdoch University you must return a signed acceptance contract with one semester s fees, the Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) fee, and the Student Services Amenities fees (SSAF). The University will then issue an Electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (ecoe) to enable you to apply for a visa.
