Ministry of AYUSH Government of India Invites A pplications for Appointm ent to W HO, H eadquarters, Geneva Ministry of AYUSH proposes to depute an expert under a Collaboration Agreement with WHO, Hqs, Geneva for providing inputs for preparation of strategic agenda and workplan in promoting quality, safety and effectiveness of the traditional and complementary medicine and development of practice documents in Traditional Medicine including Ayurveda, Unani, Panchkarma and training document in Yoga. 2. Applications are invited in prescribed format from eligible Indian candidates for deputation to WHO, Hqs, Geneva on full time fixed term contract basis initially for a period of two years. The selected incumbent may be deputed immediately during the year 2017-2018. 3. ANNEXURE-II Deputation of an Indian Traditional Medicine Expert to WHO Headquarters. Geneva Summary of Planned Duties Under the supervision o f the Unit Lead for Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM), the incum bent will: Provide substantial input to the Traditional and Com plem entary Medicine (T&CM) U nit on: i) the strategic agenda and w ork plan in prom oting quality, safety and effectiveness o f traditional and com plem entary m edicine. ii) the developm ent o f the benchm arks for practice docum ents in traditional m edicine including A yurveda, Unani and Panchakarm a and training docum ent in Yoga; coordinating the studies and relevant projects/activities; preparation o f responses to technical enquiries and com m unications with stakeholders and partners; reviewing the literature and other technical docum ents in the area o f quality, safety and effectiveness in traditional & com plem entary m edicine. iii) the w ork on Category 2 activities identified in the Project Collaboration Agreem ent including coordination o f work related to W HO basic term inology on T& CM, WHO global database on regulation and practitioners o f T& CM and establishm ent o f a global netw ork o f international regulatory cooperation for T& C M practice. iv) the project o f term inology in traditional m edicine, including Ayurveda, Yoga & N aturopathy, U nani, Siddha and Hom eopathy. v) enlisting traditional system s o f medicine, including A yurveda, Y oga & N aturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy, in the second m odule o f the International C lassification o f D iseases- Traditional m edicine chapter. vi) the w ork o f palliative care and T&CM services. Prepares inform ation that serves as advice to M em ber States in quality, safety and effectiveness o f traditional and com plem entary m edicine services in line with the im plem entation o f the W HA resolutions and W HO strategy on traditional m edicine. Functional Knowledge and Skills Demonstrated know ledge o f the areas related to health system s, service delivery, and traditional and com plem entary m edicine in particular the quality and safety o f Traditional and Com plem entary M edicine (T& CM ) services. Excellent written, verbal and presentation com m unication skills in English. Education Qualifications Essential Advanced university degree in traditional medicine or MD and a degree in traditional m edicine Desirable MPH, or PhD in public health or relevant health-related subject. Fam iliarity with national standards developm ent including proficiency in com puters and fam iliarity with ICD software platform s.
Experience Essential At least 7 years experience in traditional medicine services. Solid experience in the areas o f quality and safety o f service delivery. Proven experience in collaboration with multilateral, bilateral and regional developm ent institutions. Desirable Working experience in a senior technical capacity in the area o f traditional medicine in a national health system.
