PROJECT REPORT ON CARDIAC INTERVENTIONAL SURGERY CAMP INTRODUCTION In this country where the increasing adolescent population also means an upsurge in their problems, works an NGO, Unfold, with its motive to address issues and enhance the mental, psychological and physical well being of the youth of this country. Established in 2013, Unfold has its head office in sector 14, Faridabad. 3 (Three) free pediatric cardiac interventional surgery camp was organized by team Unfold for underprivileged children. These children were the ones who were born with congenital (by birth) defects and were unable to lead a normal productive life besides lagging behind in physical & mental growth parameters. Cardiac Interventional surgery is a precise and highly skilled & technically challenging surgery which has to be done by an expert and in which devices threaded through blood vessels are used to plug the defects of the heart without doing open surgery through an incision. This saves the patient from potential risks and complications of an open surgery, reduces anesthesia time and hospital stay, avoids infection, need for blood transfusion and reduces cost. OPERATING TEAM (Responsible for selection of cases, selection of devices and surgical procedure) 1. Dr Madhu Choudhary - Senior consultant Pediatric Cardiologist Archana Hospital & Trustee Unfold 1. Dr L. Srinivas - Chief Interventional Cardiologist,Jupiter Hospital Mumbai 2. Dr Ritu Mittal - Cardiac Anaesthetist Narayan Hrudalya 3. Dr Piyush Mittal - Cardiac Anaesthetist, Narayan Hrudalaya 4. Dr Prashant Mahawar - Interventional Cardiologist, Narayan Hrudalaya,Jaipur 5. Dr Ranganathan - Pediatric Cardiac Anesthetist Fortis Hospital Jaipur

ADMINISTRATIVE TEAM (Responsible for ancillary arrangements- funding, marketing, arrangement of food and transportation of children and their parents, coordination with surgical team and the hospital management) 1. Dr Arun Choudhary, Consultant Surgeon, Archana Hospital Jaipur 2. Dr Rajaram Agarwal, Consultant Neurosurgeon Fortis Hospital, Jaipur 3. Dr Neeta Dhabhai, Consultant Gynaecologist, Metro Hospital, Faridabad 4. Staff of Archana Hospital, Jaipur SELECTION PROCESS All the children were referred by Pediatricians from Jaipur and adjoining cities who were given prior information of this proposed camp, the children were put through a meticulous screening procedure to define their need (severity of the heart defect), compatibility and success for surgery by Dr Madhu Choudhary at Archana hospital. Final screening with 2D Echo was done once again by the team led by Dr L. Srinivas. The parents of the finalized list of children had an hour long session with the team to discuss and apprise them of the procedure, risks and after care of the children. The children operated in the previous camp were also assessed for their progress and well being as a part of our self audit and we were very happy to note and report that they were all doing very well.

SPONSOR SDMC (Sita Devi Memorial Charitable) Trust kindly consented to completely and solely finance the 2nd cardiac camp. NARAYANA HRUDAYALAYA group of hospitals was the venue for all the surgeries. ABOUT NARAYANA HRUDAYALAYA Is a reputed hospital of the Narayana Hrudayalaya group of hospitals started by the famous Cardiac surgeon Dr Devi Shetty in Bangalore. It maintains impeccable standards of patient care and equipment and their Operation Theatres are world class, the hospital is equipped with excellent state of the art ICU and CCU, with in house diagnostics and blood bank, which was the reason for Team Unfold to choose them as their venue partners for this camp. NONE OF THE OPERATING TEAM DOCTORS CHARGED THEIR FEE The camp has been of exceptional quality in terms of the skilful procedure and the post operative care and at par with the best of International Standards. PRESS CONFERENCE A press conference was held in Narayana Hrudayalaya where the leading news channels, TV channels and print media of the capital city of Jaipur were invited.
