THE DIRECTOR CONSIDERING that the Grant is awarded for the action entitled Evolving Security SciencE through Networked Technologies, Information policy And Law ESSENTIAL ; CONSIDERING that CNRITTIG is beneficiary of the ESSENTIAL project that has received funding from the European Union s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie SkłodowskaCurie Grant Agreement No 722482; CONSIDERING that the ESSENTIAL Project is devoted to develop security science by addressing two of its main problems: the adhoc approach to security research and the growing complexity of the security environment. To do so, ESSENTIAL has set itself two main goals: a) to train interdisciplinary security experts and professionals to tackle security threats in a systematic manner and b) to increase societal resilience and security by addressing in an interdisciplinary manner 15 research topics, each associated with longstanding problems in the field of security science ranging from modeling security perception and democratizing intelligence to improving security and privacy in data ecosystems. ESSENTIAL will be the first programme of its kind that aims to jointly educate the next generation of interdisciplinary experts in security science, by uniquely exposing the 15 Early Stage Researchers (ESRs) to: (1) theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in such areas as: (a) the policing and regulation of informationsecurity technology, and (b) the implementation of policies and legal standards within computing and communication systems; (2) realworld environments in law enforcement, intelligence and industry; (3) strong academic guidance offered by highly qualified supervisors and mentors; (4) high tech research infrastructures; and (5) a diversity of interdisciplinary research events, such as workshops, conferences, summer/winter schools. The ESSENTIAL consortium is built upon longlasting cooperation relations among leading organizations coming from academia, international and national stakeholders and the private sector, many of whom have over 25 years of experience in contributing directly to national, European and UN technologyrelated policy making; CONSIDERING that one of the 15 Early Stage Researchers ESR06 position will be hosted by CNR ITTIG; CONSIDERING that the call for application has been published in EURAXESS website; CONSIDERING that a short list of applicants will be determined by an international Commission composed of the ESSENTIAL Project s supervision committee members and the candidates will be selected by this international Commission; Via de' Barucci, 20 50127 Firenze (Italy) tel. +39 055 43995 fax +39 055 4399605 C.F. 80054330586 ittig@ittig.cnr.it www.ittig.cnr.it P.IVA 02118311006
