KING S20 FAQs What is King s20 Accelerator? Want to launch your own venture or start-up? Have an idea that you think will make it? Looking for some extra support to make it happen? We can help! The King's20 accelerator is a year-long accelerator programme aimed at supporting the 20 brightest ventures from King's to reach their potential. Ventures can be at any stage of their development and the accelerator is open to all King's students, staff and alumni. Applications are open until 17 June 2018. The 2018-19 programme runs from 1 st October 2018 to 13 th September 2019, and is made up of 60,000 of support across 12-months 130,000 Grant funding available 0% Equity Taken in your venture Who is currently on the accelerator? Meet the 20 ventures in our Lookbook. What s in it for me? You ll get an estimated 60,000 worth of support, including 3-month intensive accelerator based around week-long sprint challenges 9-months of follow-on including investor events every few weeks 8 in-house expert mentors (incl. a growth hacker, designer, technologist, investor, & 2 leadership coaches) & regular external mentors Access to 130,000 pot of grant funding Desk space for up to 5 team members at our iconic Bush House coworking space 2 residential trips to learn leadership skills A package worth 20,000 including 12-months free accounting, 15,000 cloud credits, Facebook credits, free marketing videos King s20 Accelerator is designed for ventures at any stage of their development, from an idea to a venture with an established user base and already making revenue, and is run by Entrepreneurship Institute.

Who are our mentors? Our team of advisors, including the university s first Professor in Practice and 6 Experts in Residence, is made up of highly-experienced team of entrepreneurs, creatives, investors, leadership coaches and technologists. This model affords our entrepreneurs meaningful, high-quality support each week from a small group of trusted advisors. This group is complemented by regular mentorship from other highly-experienced mentors and investors in our network. So what do you expect from me? King s20 Accelerator is a completely free package. Unlike other accelerators we will not ask you for any equity or revenue share contribution. As part of the accelerator programme we will not: Take any shares or equity from your venture Charge you any fees Claim any ownership in your idea or IP. We expect you to commit to the programme for 12 months, from 1st October 2018 until 13th September 2018 This means Participation in the programme, including attendance at the opening 2-day Launchpad event, the closing Demo Day, and around 8 workshops in between

Presence in the accelerator space at least on a weekly basis. N.B. opening hours will be long and seven days a week. Attendance is flexible allow for lectures, clinics etc. Behaviour appropriate for King s and for a co-working environment, including respect for the workspace and the other ventures around you A commitment to developing and scaling your venture with our support Having a great time! The programme is all about your personal learning journey and growth and we want to have as much fun as possible along the way! You have nothing to lose, but everything to gain. Right so how do I apply? The application form can be viewed, completed and edited by clicking here. The deadline for submitting completed applications is 1159pm on Sunday 17th June 2018. Amendments to applications after this date will not be reviewed. To complete the application form, which is on Google Forms, you will have to log in using a google mail account. If you do not have one, please follow the instructions to create one. This will give you access to the application and allow you to edit your responses until 1159pm on Sunday 17th June 2018. Am I eligible? You can apply if: 1. you will be a student at King s during the academic year 18/19. We are interested in all students at King s, studying any subject and at any stage of their education, or 2. you are alumni 3. you are a staff member at King s College London. What if I m an international student? If you require a visa to take part in the programme (international student(s) who will be graduating soon), we may also be able to support your application for a Tier 1 (graduate entrepreneur) Visa. This is an immigration category which allows graduates with worldclass innovative ideas or entrepreneurial skills to extend their stay in the UK after graduation, by establishing and developing one or more businesses in the UK under the supervision of their academic institution. At King s we offer endorsement letters to graduates that are applicable. Check out our link here for more info. Can I get help with my application? Terms and Conditions 1. All applicants, whether student; alumni or staff, should give consideration to whether the University may own or partially own any rights in the idea, or is likely to own or partially own rights in the idea in the future. If you think the University may have rights, your initial connection should be with the IP & Licensing team (http://www.kcl.ac.uk/innovation/business/support/ipandlicensing/index.aspx) or Commercialisation Institute (www.kcl.ac.uk/commercialisation) at King's who, together with you, will determine how you can best be supported which may include referral to the Entrepreneurship Institute. 2. You are eligible if a. you will be a student at King s during the academic year 18/19. We are interested in all students at King s, studying any subject and at any stage of their education or b. you are alumni and were at King s during any of the seven academic years before 18/19 or c. you are a staff member at King s College London, all subject to point 1. mentioned above. 3. Entries will be accepted from 16 th April to 17 th June 2018. 4. An entry must be fully submitted before the deadline to be considered for King s20 Accelerator programme. We advise drafting responses offline before transferring them to the online form. Please remember to click the submit button on the entry form. 4. The selection panel s decision on which teams are selected for the programme is final. 5. By agreeing to our terms and conditions, you also agree for your image to be used for marketing purposes.
