BUSINESS Brenda White Susan Ma CCI Field Specialist APPROVED SUMMARY OF DISCUSSION AND FOLLOW-UP Prior to the start of the meeting, staff reviewed the following: L.A. Care's Mission Statement Meeting Ground Rules Welcome & Introduction: Brenda White, CCI Council Chair, called the meeting to order at 10:02 am. Approval of Agenda and Summary The February 28, 2018 meeting agenda was reviewed. It was approved by Jo Ann Cannon and seconded by Joseph Airo. The December 20, 2017 meeting summary was reviewed. It was approved by Joseph Airo and seconded by Jo Lynn Horton. ECAC Report CCI Council Member Joe Airo shared his experience of attending the February, 2018 BOG meeting. CCI Council Member Jo Ann Cannon shared her experience of attending the January, 2018 ECAC meeting. The CCI Council Chair and Vice Chair will be on a rotation schedule to attend Board of Governors meetings. CCI Council Chair, Brenda White, will be attending the BOG on April 5, 2018. CCI Council member Jo Lynn Horton signed up to attend the March ECAC meeting, and Joseph Airo will be attending the April ECAC meeting. Members received updates on the Redlined Operating Rules Motion discussed at the February BOG meeting: o The Board approved revisions to the Consumer Advisory Committee Operating Rules. o There is a 30-day posting requirement before the Operating Rules will become effective at the April 5, 2018 Board meeting; comments on the revisions can be sent to Board Services. February 28, 2018 CCI Area 3 Meeting Summary Page 2 of 4 L.A. Care Updates Members enjoyed a video of L.A. Care's Family Resource Centers. Members received information on the East L.A. Family Resource Center, anticipated to open Fall of 2018. The address of the new FRC is 4803 E. Whittier Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90022. Members received information on L.A. Care's Cal Medi-Connect NCQA certification. The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) is an independent, non-profit organization which ensures excellence in health care across the nation. Members received information about dental benefits. Dental services under Denti-Cal were reinstated as of January 1, 2018. Denti-Cal continues to have a cap of $1,800 for covered services per year, although some services do not count towards the $1,800 cap and additional services can be covered if shown to be medically necessary. Adults with full-scope Medi-Cal can expect to receive a letter in the mail notifying them of these new benefits. For more information, members can visit Denti-Cal's website at

A brochure with the dental benefits information was provided to the members. Nancy Molina, CCI Liaison, did a presentation regarding the CCI Council Transportation Guidelines, informing members about rules and expectations associated with the transportation that is offered to them to attend CCI Council-related activities. Members received a copy of the Community Partnership Work Project application for FY 2017-2018, so that they may share it with organizations in their community. Break Members received the following forms on the Chair/Vice Chair nomination information: CCI Council Chair/Vice Chair Nomination Form, Roles and Responsibilities information, and Election Letter. Members were informed that if they are interested in nominating a CCI Council member including themselves for an elective position; they will need to return the nomination form by April 6, 2018 in the postage-paid Members were reminded to speak with Member Navigator, Alfredo Flores, if they have experienced any issues related to their health care. Alfredo is the Member Navigator that regularly attends the CCI Council meetings to help members with individual member issues. In the event that Alfredo is not present at a meeting, members can call Member Services at 1-888-839-9909. Global Member Issues CCI Council members did not have any member issues to report. CCI Member Joseph Airo shared that there is a Program called The Volunteer Driver Mileage Reimbursement Program, sponsored by the Workforce Development Department of Los Angeles County. It is a Client-centered transportation program that gives participants the opportunity to select and recruit one or more Volunteer Drivers for their transportation needs. The Program has no limit on the number of monthly trips, but provides total mileage of 150 miles per month or less, at a rate of 34 cents per mile. Members had the opportunity to complete their meeting evaluation forms. A public attendee indicated that she enjoyed the meeting. February 28, 2018 CCI Area 3 Meeting Summary Page 3 of 4
