Statement of Need/Gap Analysis The purpose of this CME activity is to address the identified gap(s): * 1) Medical providers must be able to differentiate signs and symptoms of chemical vesicant agents. * 2) Medical providers must be able to supervise and delegate resources during the patient decontamination process. * 3) Medical providers must be able to identify and appropriately treat patients exposed to chemical vesicant agents based on diagnosis. Learning Objectives 1. Apply the fundamentals of chemical agent terminology to the diagnosis & treatment of vesicant agent casualties & recommend appropriate treatment, decontamination & detection to reduce illness & injury due to vesicant agent exposure. 2. Apply the fundamentals of mechanism of action to the diagnosis & treatment of vesicant agent casualties & recommend appropriate treatment, decontamination & detection to reduce illness & injury due to vesicant agent exposure. 3. Apply the fundamentals of pathophysiology to the diagnosis & treatment of vesicant agent casualties & recommend appropriate treatment, decontamination & detection to reduce illness & injury due to vesicant agent exposure. 4. 2008-0393 / Syllabus Intended Audience The course is designed for Medical Corps and Nurse Corps officers, physician assistants, Medical Service Corps officers in specialties 67B, C, or E, and other selected medical professionals. Lectures, case studies, and interactive modules prepare graduates to effectively manage casualties exposed to chemical vesicant agents.
