Course: Safe Sitter classes are for boys and girls ages 11-13. Learn how to handle unexpected situations that might arise in caring for young children. Learn the business aspect of babysitting and receive information on child development. Participants receive hands-on training in infant and child CPR from certified American Heart Association instructors. People say you have to let go and move on in your life, but they don t tell you what you need to do to accomplish that. Course: The Infant/Toddler Parenting and Safety Class will review signs of illness, health tips, nutrition for infants (introducing foods), childproofing the home, nurturing and learning your baby s cues, car seat and crib safety, growth and development for toddlers, nutrition and picky eaters, health and safety tips (including poison control, choking prevention and home safety), nurturing and discipline, toilet training and other routines. Community Wellness Silver Eagles Cost: Free Contact: Tracy Limmer at 573.458.7759 for information and registration Program: The PCRMC Silver Eagles, a program for healthy aging, is FREE for anyone over age 50 living in Phelps, Dent, Crawford, Pulaski, Maries and Texas counties and surrounding areas. The goal of this program is to help members be informed of the latest health information for vital aging; make new health skills a priority; and improve lifestyle, diet and attitude for healthy longevity. Benefits of Silver Eagles membership include a monthly newsletter with tips for healthy aging, upcoming event reminders and invitations to free educational events. Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program Cost: $10 per month Location: The Centre, 1200 Holloway, Rolla Time: 10:00am 11:00am Dates: Tuesday & Thursday Contact Tracy Limmer at 573.458.7759 or The Centre at 573.341.2386 Program: The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program is a low-impact physical activity program proven to reduce pain and decrease stiffness. This program was designed by physical therapists specifically for people with arthritis, although you do not have to have arthritis to participate. The routines include gentle range-of-motion, strengthening and cardiovascular exercises that are suitable for every fitness level. Course: Heartsaver First Aid Online Part 1 is a web-based, self-directed course that teaches students critical skills and knowledge needed to respond to and manage a first aid or sudden cardiac arrest emergency in the first few minutes until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrive. Content includes how to treat bleeding, sprains, broken bones, shock and other first aid emergencies. The Heartsaver First Aid Online Part 1 may be accessed by going to http://www.onlineaha.org/. Upon completion of the online portion, the employee can call to schedule an instructor-led, hands-on skills check. Heartsaver CPR/AED Skills Check Only Cost: $45 Time: These classes take approximately 30 minutes to complete.
